We stayed at the PI Folkestone before getting an early morning Shuttle to France. You can’t fault the location - it’s ideal. I’ve given 3 stars for service as you have to self check in and there was no interaction with staff, so difficult to comment. However, the rooms and the temperature in the corridors and rooms really let this place down. The room wasn’t as clean as you would expect and the bathroom was dated and, in places, grotty. Within the room there was a fan provided, but it was not adequate enough to change the temperature in the room. The only solution I could think of was to fill the bath with cold water and go and stand in it every so often. We stayed as a family and got very little sleep - completely negating the reason for booking the hotel. The coolest place was the stair well where the lifts were! Unfortunately I would recommend people to find an alternative hotel.

Really disappointed with our stay at Premier Inn. The room was uncomfortably hot and there was no air conditioning, just a fan which did nothing other than blow the hot air around the room.
It made it extremely difficult to relax or get any sleep, especially when staying with children. When you’re paying for a hotel room, you expect to at least be able to get a comfortable night’s sleep.
Unfortunately, the heat completely spoiled the stay for us. Premier Inn really needs to look at providing proper air conditioning in these rooms, because a fan simply isn’t enough during warm weather.

I absolutely do not recommend staying here. Our room was 35 degrees+, making it impossible to sleep. There is no air con, and you cannot open the windows enough for any air flow. We stayed as a family of four and our children were ill the next day due to the heat of the room (which was more than 10 degrees hotter than outside during the night, we'd have been better off in the car). We have contacted premier inn to complain, and request some form of reduction in price. They are not offering anything, as the room was "as advertised". I didn't see it being advertised as a sauna, the temperature is absolutely ridiculous. Premier Inn claim "you know what you're getting". Here you are getting a sauna experience for 8 hours.
Do not stay here, try the holiday inn instead.

Location is perfect for tunnel or ferry access but there's absolutely no way to circulate the hot air out of the room. It's lovely and cool outside but the room is an absolute oven. Either fit air-conditioning to keep the rooms cool in summer or have windows that open wide enough to allow the hot air to escape. Even with the supplied fan full blast on the windowsill to try and draw in the cool air from outside via the tiny opening, it's impossible to cool the room. Hot summers are the new normal and Premier Inn should be taking steps to make their customers comfortable.
Review update 11/08/2026: I called customer service as requested and despite having a "Good Night Guarantee" which offers a refund if you have a bad night, they decided that it's better to lose a customer than retain one. No refund offered as they say that there's no aircon there but what they don't say is that it is impossible to open a window sufficiently to let in cool air. Premier Inn need to make it abundantly clear that rooms will be extremely hot during hot weather with no possibility of ventilating to cool effectively. I met another family leaving at 4am because it was impossible for their kids to sleep. Scroll down and you will see other reviews. I expected better customer service from Premier Inn.

DONT NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL IF IT IS WARM. Rooms unbearably hot when the temperatures that day were only 26c . We stayed for one night as soon as you enter the reception a wall of heat hits you. We got put on the 1st floor after been in there for about an hour sweating we had to get out so went to the restaurant/bar for a drink and some aircon. On the way back we asked the receptionist if we could be moved rooms to be told it is fully booked and it is summer it is going to be warm. So we went back up to the room until my little brother ended up been sick because of the heat. We went straight back down to the reception it was about 12am to let them know and for someone to come clean it up but because they didn't have anyone they miraculously had a room on the bottom floor which wasn't much cooler but bearable. Since then I have rang the customer service team to express my concerns but basically got told because the don't advertise as having aircon they won't do anything. So like I said at the start of it is going to be a warm day don't go there I had read the reviews before I went and I thought how bad can it be but trust it is herendous and they get complaints all the time about it.
