This Premier Inn has the nicest staff members. Every member we met was friendly, kind, professional, helpful.
The not so good was this hotel desperately needs an upgrade - The rooms need refurbishing, our room had mould in and around the window recess, the shower has very low pressure and a shower over an old narrow high bath is really awful these days. The rooms do not have air-conditioning and it was a very hot weekend 28° The staff had put a fan in the room, but it was still very stuffy and hot and difficult to sleep. They also put a note in to say if we wanted a sheet instead of the duvet to ask and I did.
On this weekend the lift was out of order, now it's only 3 floors but we were on the top floor and had to carry cases up stairs and my husband has had extensive spinal surgery and shouldn't lift them but I couldn't manage alone so he did help, not good!
The food wasn't great at all, we had 1 evening meal and 2 days breakfasts. The food is I believe mostly frozen ready meals put in the microwave, pasta dishes that were tasteless and when they don't offer parmesan cheese it's cos there isn't any, it doesn't cone with the frozen meal. It's very overpriced for what you get.
Breakfast- we are veggies and premier inn used to have quorn sausages, now they are a vegan make and are rubbery and tasteless and don't ask about the vegan bacon, you can't eat it, it's like a dog chew!! So not much point paying for a cooked breakfast if you are vegetarian.
Premier Inns are convenient and the location is ok being just off the A1, so for a quick weekend stopover (we were at a family wedding), it had to suffice, but this Premier Inn needs upgrading to be appreciated and match the lovely staff team.

Husband booked at the beginning of the year to bring my elderly parent in laws for a night away to go to a nearby national trust. He thought he'd booked central but gladly he hadn't.
Staff were friendly and helpful from the moment we checked in.
Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable, apparently my 90 year father in law slept the best he had since he took a fall at the beginning of March.
Breakfast was really good, fresh hot food being bought out to the buffet constantly, also warm plates which are normally lacking in these style of breakfast,
Plenty of free parking for hotel guests.
Would definitely stay again if we were in this area again.
Many thanks to the kindness and patience of the lovely staff.
Great Premier Inn, but it’s a real shame there’s no air conditioning. I knew this when booking, but I didn't expect a heatwave ( 33°C+) whilst visiting. It was completely insufferable especially given you can only open the windows 3inches. It is also frustrating that the bar/restaurant doesn't open until 5:00 PM; it seems very late, especially if you just want a drink or a snack , even more so when that’s the only air-conditioned room in the hotel.

Lovely friendly staff, a comfy bed and great breakfast.
Check in and out very quick.
The only thing that let it down was the room was a bit shabby in places. Was clean though.

My daughter and I recently stayed at Premier Inn Stevenage North while my husband was being treated at Lister Hospital. We are from Leeds, and my husband had been taken ill at Royston Train Station while working in Cambridge.
As soon as the reception staff, Tara and Jackie, realised our situation, they immediately moved us to a ground floor room to make things easier for us when travelling back and forth to the hospital. Jackie also shared her own family experiences and truly understood what we were going through. Both ladies gave us compassion, support and hope during what felt like complete turmoil.
Our angel of the week was Sharon (“Shaza”), who supported us late at night when we returned exhausted from the hospital. She provided food, drinks, kindness, and even a shoulder to cry on. She showed such empathy and compassion and helped us begin to come to terms with everything that was happening. Being away from home, family and friends was incredibly difficult, but Sharon made us feel like family ourselves. When my mother-in-law arrived later in the week, Sharon showed her exactly the same warmth and care. I honestly do not know how we can thank her enough.
We also want to mention Kian, the blonde lady on the bar, the lovely lady who cleaned our room and changed our beds, and Tara’s daughter (apologies that I cannot remember your names).
Every single one of you went above and beyond to help us at this traumatic time through your friendliness, kindness and support.
You are all absolute angels 😇
Kevin is now home from hospital and his recovery is going well. Still a long road ahead but little wins everyday.
Best wishes to everyone 🥰
