Food not so good , I’d recommend eating somewhere else . Lovely hotel and staff though, but constant issues with food over the past few years, literally constant.

The whole experience seemed quite impersonal. The room we had was right outside the night club and next to the lift shaft, both of which were in constant use until the small hours, and then, when they threw the empties away after the night, the noise abruptly woke us. At breakfast, we arrived and our booking was acknowledged, and then it was just fend for yourself, no other courtesy was paid, probably because the young lad found it difficult to get off his phone. Finally, in terms of cleanliness, the lifts were really quite disgusting, we didn’t want to hold onto anything and ‘drips’ down the doors had not been cleaned.

The good:
- the receptionist let me check-in 2 hours early
- friendly staff (especially Lauren on breakfast whose genuine positivity is missed in fancy hotels)
- breakfast (they asked me to check I was happy to pay £9/12 pounds and I was, as it's good value for the price)
- air con
- modern bedrooms
- location is very handy for exploring St. Albans and 15mins walk to the train
The improvements:
- lifts could do with a deep clean
- hall carpets need a good hoover, plus the skirting boards are chipping
- young lad on breakfast needs to be off his phone, it can't all be work-related. He was friendly though.
- small one, but a lot of hotels have sheets that don't cover the full bed
Thiocfadh mé ar ais.

*** terrible AIR CON had room at 25 degrees at 2 in morning and 23.5 by morning. Outside air temp only peaked at 26 that day****
Checked in mid July with the family for a night. Picked the hotel because of air-conditioning, but the room on check in was 25 degrees. Left the air con on all evening whilst having dinner and temperature still 25 degrees, whilst outside air temp around 26. The air coming out of the air conditioner was not cold. It wasn’t that the machine couldn’t cope with the volume of the room or the number of occupants, it just wasn’t cooling the room.
Terrible nights sleep for the whole family, removed the inner duvet to leave just the sheets and still too hot for proper sleep. Went to reception to report it and they said they adjusted something from their back room to set the temp to 19. Asked if they had fans as I doubted they had really done anything, and was told they had no fans.
Retuned to room and the room temperature never dropped below 23.5 by the morning. The outside air temperature was much cooler than this, but without opening windows in the room, you have no access to this!
Reported it and they have since claimed the air con was working fine and it was just a heat wave. Stayed in a premier inn during the really hot heat wave earlier in the month in reading and that had the room down at 19 without any problem. That air conditioner you could tell was cooling the air as the air out was very cold.
I’m disappointed that they have shrugged off the complaint saying the air conditioner was working fine and it was the heat wave. You should still get cold air from the machine.
For reference, here’s the screenshots and the historical weather for St Albans that day and night (17th July). Not a particularly extreme night!
Good night sleep guarantee as far as I can see is not worth anything.

The location was fine they’re on the high street easy to get to everything the room was fine. but there was a bit of rubbish under the bed and table, and there was no toilet paper the hairdryer didn’t work and we only had one towel and a hand towel. Also gets a bit warm in the room and no windows that open there is ac but it’s not the best Also it’s screen check in so you have no customer service at all I never saw any staff the screen was fine it was easy but warm welcome would be great.
