We have stayed here for years as a convenient location when visiting family nearby & central London. All previous stays have been excellent & customer service spot on (even returned a very old family teddy bear to us some years ago) so we had no hesitation booking again. This trip - we will never return. Man on check in (only reception staff we saw for 3 night stay) didn’t stand up & on his mobile phone. Checked in just after 8pm, on entering the room it smelt heavily of damp / stale water Bathroom not particularly clean & in disrepair. Went up to the restaurant- man at desk nowhere to be seen so couldn’t ask to room move &our very busy schedule over the next few days & lack of reception staff at convenient times made this impossible. Restaurant- the lady working on Friday night was the one great thing about this place (also saw her Sunday night at the bar) everything fell way short. Starters: chicken “tenders” - nothing tender about them. Came out quickly but were rock solid so I would say they were thrown back in the fryer. 4 thrown on each of the 2 plates, no garnish, just rolling around the plate with a very small metal ramekin of sauce. The Mains were a lot better to be fair - mixed grill looked great. Bacon & cheese burger & veggie burger all good - tasty & ample portions. Saturday morning - trying to request an Iron & Ironing board - rude young man told me to speak to reception, very dismissive & short. Explained there was no one at reception & just looked at me like I was an inconvenience to his day. A lady stepped in and said that it was best to ask when we returned at the end of the day. Came back after a full on day in London & asked for a glass & wine glass at the bar. The young man replied that he didn’t have any wine glasses! I said none at all, response was “No” so I asked how was he serving wine, with a very cocky tone he said with the 2 we have available, people take them to their rooms & don’t bring them back. (in my experience of working in hotels, the housekeepers return glasses when servicing rooms … more on that later!) he reluctantly gave me a pint glass & a smaller glass. Same man at reception who had checked us in, surprise - he was on his mobile phone! Clearly inconvenienced him to have to look up from the phone. Asked for a ringing board & or o & he said he would check if they had any. Came back out to hand me them. Now bear in mind that I am holding 2 glasses & I had said my room number which was a distance from reception & down a flight of stairs, no help was offered at all, not even to open the door so I didn’t have to fumble with my room key. To put this into some context also - I am 5ft 1 - the ironing board is almost as big as me! Got back to the room to see that our room had not been serviced. Working in hospitality, I didn’t expect a change of linen as we were a 3 night stay but I did expect the cups to have been washed / replaced & the tea & coffee to be replenished at least! Sunday: we got up & decided to go for breakfast & a swim elsewhere. On returning to the hotel around midday to get ready to visit family, we discovered that again our room had not been serviced. We needed fresh towels & the housekeeping team were a few doors down so I went and asked for towels to be handed 1 - explained we are a family of 3 was handed 2 more & then shouted after to ask my room number. I took the wet towels out to the housekeeper to give her those in return to be told the trolley for those is down the corridor & she pointed at it! I my head I was thinking “is she actually telling me to take the towels to the trolley”- yes, she said it again so I held the towels out to her & she reluctantly took them & it them in the trolley herself. We went off for the afternoon & came back around 8.30pm to you’ve guessed it, no service to the room - the cups were still as they were from Saturday morning! Security is great here - no one ever enters your room!! Not even to routinely service it!!! Oh & same man, sat on reception- you’ve got it, on his mobile phone! We will not be back!

Arrived at the reception, had to wait 10 min for receptionist.he arrived and check us in, we did ask him how to pay for parking didn’t instructed us on how, he didn’t bothered telling us which way to go, we took the wrong direction and had to come back all the way to find out where our room is. When I complained about not telling us which way to go, he start shouting back to us telling us it’s your own stupidity!!!! I was shocked. When I asked to speak to manager, he talks back very rudely saying there is no manager , however found out who the manager was and waited 50 minutes and he wasn’t helpful either. I don’t recommend this place at all. 👎👎👎👎

After spending the last 10 weeks at Premier Inn South Mimms, I can honestly say it’s become a home away from home. From myself (Alex) and Mitchell, thank you to every single member of staff who made our stay so memorable. Denada – More than welcoming, especially considering it was her first time working in a hotel environment. She worked front of house in the restaurant and absolutely smashed it. Caring, kind, attentive, and a genuinely lovely soul. You should be incredibly proud of how well you’ve done. Ed – What can I say? Not just an outstanding member of staff, but a genuinely caring and compassionate young man. He has an incredible ability to make guests feel at ease while also supporting and encouraging less experienced colleagues. He brings out the best in both staff and customers alike. A true gentleman, and someone we’ll consider a friend for life. Karen – Quite simply one of the best receptionists a hotel could ask for. Firm but fair, with attention to detail that’s second to none. She sets a high standard and is a huge asset to the hotel. Mohammed – Another fantastic member of the front-of-house team. Professional, kind, approachable, and a true gentleman who makes every guest feel welcome. Stuart – The breakfast host who goes above and beyond every single morning. His attention to detail and genuine care for guests exceeds anywhere else I’ve stayed. He’ll always be remembered. Naricas – A brilliant barman and a lovely family man with a heart of gold. Always welcoming and a pleasure to chat with. Borbola – One of the best barmaids you could ask for. Friendly, welcoming, and always made everyone feel comfortable. A real credit to any establishment. Rachel – The hotel manager. It took me a little while to warm to her, but she has a job to do and does it exceptionally well. Firm, fair, professional, and clearly dedicated to maintaining the high standards of the hotel. A fantastic manager. Ravi – Professional, supportive, and always there to help his colleagues. A real team player and someone every workplace would benefit from having. Over the last 10 weeks, I genuinely can’t fault this hotel. The staff are what make it special, and they’ve turned what could have been just another work stay into a place that felt like home. Thank you all for your kindness, professionalism, and the laughs along the way. From myself, Alex, and Mitchell, we hope to see you all again soon. Take care, and thank you for everything. xx

Absolutely abysmal. Stayed here for the night due to a family funeral in the area, unbeknownst to me the funeral would be the highlight of my 24hr getaway. Arrived and a lovely staff member booked us in. Upon arrival we asked about booking a table for dinner as there would be around 8 of us but we were told “no no we’re not busy just turn up when you want dinner, it’ll keep staff on their toes the kitchen doesn’t close till 9:30”. Turns out the being kept on our toes mantra does not work in an almost empty restaurant. Some of us had planned on having a pudding when we ordered our mains at around 7:40. However by the time our mains finally arrived it was then nearly 9pm! Staff were literally clearing plates to close up for the night before some of us had fully finished eating. So vending machine for a packet of malteasers for pudding it was. When dinner finally arrived it was nice, not worth the near £16 in my opinion. I got the Mediterranean chicken bowl but as you can see from the picture it was mostly a rocket and chickpea bowl. Breakfast was okay, they don’t refil their version of a continental (pastries, fruit & yoghurt) so if you wake up past 7:30 expecting a continental you’d be left with toast. Overall an absolute disservice to a Premier Inn reputation. If you do stay here I’d also recommend bringing a door stop for your bedroom door. I had just come out of the shower and a staff member had let themselves in saying they were asked to make a bed up in the room. Luckily my partner managed to stop the staff member from turning the corner in the room (where I was getting changed). Staff need retraining on how to enter a room they barely knocked and didn’t make themself known before entering the room. My partner alerted reception of this straight away- they weren’t overly helpful. All this happened before the terrible service at dinner. I can confidently say I did not get a restful night sleep and was glad to have left.

Premier Inn South Mimms We stayed at the Premier Inn South Mimms while attending a family wedding at the Oshwal Centre in Potters Bar, and the location couldn't have been more convenient. From the moment we arrived, we found the staff to be friendly, welcoming and genuinely helpful. A special mention goes to Porbala, who went out of her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. During the heatwave, she was always happy to provide us with ice-cold water to refill our bottles—a thoughtful gesture that was very much appreciated. Our room was spotlessly clean and, best of all, wonderfully quiet, being located in a peaceful part of the hotel. Together with the excellent blackout curtains, efficient air conditioning and the famously comfortable Premier Inn mattress, we enjoyed three excellent nights' sleep. The room also had a Smart TV and kettle, making it well equipped for our stay. The only thing we felt was missing was a small fridge, which would be a welcome addition and, in our view, should become a standard feature. We also ate in the restaurant on both evenings and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The food was well cooked, tasty and good value, and the service was consistently friendly and efficient. Breakfast was equally impressive, with an excellent selection of both cooked and continental options, all fresh and plentiful. It certainly set us up well for each day. Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Comfortable accommodation, excellent food, outstanding staff and a great location combined to make it an easy five-star experience. We would happily recommend Premier Inn South Mimms and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
