  I would like to begin this review with a massive shout out to Derek, what a lovely man, very welcoming and keeping the children amused with spells from Harry Potter. Rooms: Clean, spacious and comfortable with additional tea and coffee making facilities. Evening Buffet: extremely disappointing. Food was cold, tasteless and very few options especially when I specified my son is on a restricted diet due to allergies there was no additional food available for him. Breakfast: polar opposite for evening meal! Fresh, hot and plenty of options. On the whole I would recommend this hotel however maybes skip the evening.

  Great staff, lovely place, quiet location, clean, fab breakfast choice. Knocked one star off as mattress was uncomfortable on both single beds. We stopped here after visiting Warner Brothers to turn it more into a weekend away. Would recommend it for how close it is to there (very short drive) and so close to the M1 to carry on our journey home.

  I am here with my daughter for the Harry Potter trip with Caladonian Travel. (So with a coach group) the trip comes with a set meal and my daughter Hannah is Autistic and i have a tomato allergy so meal times out can always be hard and stressful. Once we entered the restaurant we was greeted by Derek and I explained our situation Derek had no issues showing and telling us was the meals were for our group, he asked the chef to join us so I could have a run down of ingredients and again nothing was too much trouble. However once we was shown what the meal was i knew Hannah wasn't going to eat it i asked the chef Mark if their was another option or one i could pay for to be told I would not be paying and what would Hannah like to eat, i couldn't believe that he was asking us like a private chef what she wanted he made her from scratch Chicken selects and skin on Fries i said I would have the same to keep it easy we was seated by Derek and was able to eat before others. I did also ask Derek if we could be seated away from other guests as Hannah won't eat if others can see her again Derek showed us the kind care and compassion and showed us to a table that wasn't over looked not only did he do that he brought us sauces and a reserved table sign and said he was going to reserve the same table for us in the morning for breakfast i asked where i could get drinks and he even offered to stay with Hannah until I returned so she wanst on her own, the service and care we have been shown in one evening at this hotel has been unprecedented and we will definatly return and anyone visiting Hemel Hempsted should also stay here all the staff from signing in to eating and getting to our rooms have been amazing and I as a mam who normally dreds eating out has had the best night due to your team i would like to say a huge and very much needed Thank you to all the team and we will definitely stay again the team are a credit to the ING wider team and they should be recognised for ther excellent service xxxx

  Our visit here at Holiday Inn was exceptional. Service and breakfast showcase was fabulous. More outstanding was Derek during breakfast. He greeted us at our table every morning and was always helpful. The cleaning staff were very attentive. It was a very nice stay and the reason why we returned and will come back in the future. The highlight was when Derek came over to us on our last day and said "Good-bye" to us. What a genuinely caring gesture. It will not be forgotten. Thank you!

  Really nice holiday inn but the flies! Stopped by in the summer time in 2026 and the little fruit/bar flies inside were horrendous! Really needs a hygiene blast to eliminate them, you couldn't even have a drink in peace and when outside you could see them by the dozen on the inside of the window. Otherwise this place would have been really good, nicely located, nice building, good size car park and nice friendly staff, just probably needs better hygiene management and cleaning routines!
