We stayed at the hotel one night last night. Room is very nice with a good size bath and a comfortable bed. There is on site parking which has to be paid for. The hotel state the rooms are not air conditioned and provide a fan and a portable radiator. Having looked at the room more closely I note that air conditioning is fitted but decommissioned with a blanking plate where the control unit would be on the wall. Having paid a non budget price for the room I wonder why the aircon is not working. A fan is not much help when the room is sweltering.

There is no air conditioning in ANY room except the restaurant/bar and reception which is sort of hinted at on the Google About with the light grey circle with a slash by Air Con, but not on their website that we could find. My wife says that the Premier Inn West Quay Southampton does list air con - so I think our travel agent messed this up. They have signs posted on the all of the walls which say No Air Con in any room. Leave the fans on, windows open (which only open a tiny fraction of the way) and the curtains closed. It was hotter in the room than it was outside. Bed is reasonably comfortable, but, they only give you one bath towel each plus a floor towel in the bathroom. Later we did find a small hand towel. Then, when we go to the restaurant to cool down and have a drink, they tell us that if we didn't have a table booked we'd have to wait at least 30-40 minutes because they couldn't possibly seat us until 9pm. We left and went and found food elsewhere. Earlier in the afternoon when we had stopped by after walking around, they charged us 9.50 GBR pounds for a decent pour of pinot grigio wine. We had breakfast which was reasonably priced at 8 GBR pounds for cold and 12 GBR pounds for hot breakfast. The pastries were packaged and not at all fresh. Reception was at least helpful in printing our luggage tags for the cruise. Overall, let me say we were not satisfied with this place.

Premium Inn review We arrived in the middle of the heat dome of June 26, 2026, only to learn that no rooms at this place have any air-conditioning (or, as the reminder in the lift stated, “no aircorn”.) There was a small desktop fan in the room. The windows only opened one inch. The room was 100°f/38°C. Despite the heat, they stuck us in a south-facing room, after refusing to let us see the room before checking in. The continental breakfast was small and so I paid extra to upgrade to the hot breakfast, which was quite good. The experience was utterly miserable, but perhaps if it’s not so hot, it would be nicer.

Stayed here when it was hot and had such a dreadful nights sleep. They have air con set up but the chap on the front desk said that head office will not authorise for it to be turned on and fully operational. We had 2 fans but they just wafted hot air around and the windows barely open. My pyjamas were soaked in sweat and I had to shower twice in the morning to feel comfortable getting ready. Would not stay here again. Escalated under the good nights sleep guarantee but they decided it wasn’t their fault (it was). On a positive note I was so thankful to the manager on breakfast as I wanted a drink so badly but arrived right on when breakfast was closing and could not face going back to the awful room. She very kindly allowed us to have a cup of tea and some juice. The fella in the restaurant was very nice and friendly too. The restaurant had air con and I would have happily have slept in there. Absolutely dreadful.

Absolutely shocking for the money we paid £158 for a room without air conditioning. Unbearable hot weather left us entering a room which resembled a furness. Alrhothere was a stand up fan in the room all it was doing was circulating hot air everywhere. No water readily available in reception as it had run out and hadn't been replaced. Was told to go to bar to ask for water. We were given two glasses of tap water which was warm! After a 2 hour flight and taxi journey to arrive at this place was not ideal. Unworkable automated check in system which doesn't work so staff had to override system. Signs up in reception asking you not to open windows as no air conditioning available. There was however conveniently air conditioning in the bar and dining area. When we questioned a member of staff she commented that it is a cheap hotel so we should expect this. Not been able to sleep due to excessive heat.
