This used to be a great budget hotel: modern, very good location, decent rooms, good prices. But, alas, it has now gone from budget to basic, and when I stayed there in the school holidays it was more like a small childrens' adventure playground. This was probably my fourth or fifth stay, although I hadn't been for a year or two. I was supposed to be here for a Holiday Inn Loyalty Reward Night: at times felt more punishment than reward! The rooms are now very basic - a bed, a desk, and that's it. Not even a picture on the walls. I had to ask for a chair, which didn't seem unreasonable. When it came the seat was torn. Great racket from the corridor with small children banging doors until 10.30pm, and then again from 6.30 am. Whatever happened to bed-time? Heard one parent saying to their offspring: "Just work off your energy by running up and down the corridor" Asked to change rooms but told not possible - they were probably full. Staff were pleasant enough but ineffectual. Breakfast again basic with low quality ingredients. So my advice to IHG/Holiday Inn: create an adults only floor during school holidays and at weekends. My advice to would be guests? Absolutely avoid during school holidays. What a shame. Oh, and you now have to pay for parking, although the rates are not unreasonable.
My family and I stayed for one night. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed on the ground floor, and the room was very quiet. The room was spacious enough for a family with small pieces of luggage. Parking is £7 per day, and you can enter and exit the car park at any time, which was really convenient.
The only thing that could be improved is the cleanliness of the room, as there were some stains on the carpet and sofa bed. Other than that, we had a pleasant stay and would happily stay here again.
Good services! The People from this hotel really care for their guests. We needed glutenfree breakfast options for celiacs and we could discuss everything with the chef. He told us about seperate kitchen spaces, told us what he can do for us and we ordered the breakfast for half a hour later. We received even more than we ordered and it tasted great
Very polite, very kind, we can recommend that.
Have visited this hotel a few times and never had issues in the past. They now charge for parking on top of the room cost. They were short staffed so no food was available on the day we arrived. The staff were quite blunt. Breakfast was acceptable but there was a shortage of knives, they then ran out plates, and also sausages.
On the whole the staff are very friendly and professional, some could do with a little more training. The rooms are a little tired with stains in the carpet particularly around the tea and coffee facilities. Bed crippled my wife and I, but they kids appeared to sleep ok on their sofa bed. Dinner was expensive, but tasted ok but mediocre quality. Liked the fact they had a kids area with a big TV playing Peppa Pig. Breakfast was OK, with the exception of the scrambled eggs which I avoided as they'd been sat out for so long they were dry and a little green. Car parking is daylight robbery especially considering the cost of the rooms. Overall not a bad hotel, but some areas of improvement could make this a much better stay.
