TL;DR: Exactly what you want from a Premier Inn: comfortable rooms, friendly staff, a good location and excellent value. The on-site Thyme restaurant is perfectly fine for a family meal, even if the steak wasn’t anything special.
Who doesn’t love a Premier Inn? This one is no exception.
The rooms are comfortable, the price is good and the location works really well for Portsmouth city centre. Parking is just around the corner and takes only a couple of minutes to walk to. It’s a public city-centre car park, so expect the usual UK city-centre car park experience, but we had no issues with it.
Check-in was really easy using the self-service machines, and the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful throughout.
We also ate at the Thyme restaurant in the hotel. The staff there were excellent — really relaxed, friendly and good with families.
The food itself was perfectly acceptable. My sirloin steak was a little under-seasoned and looked slightly pale, so I wouldn’t say it was a highlight, but it was fine. Our son loved his pasta, and the sticky toffee pudding with custard was exactly what I wanted it to be.
Ultimately, it’s a Premier Inn, and that’s part of the appeal. You know what you’re getting: a comfortable room, straightforward service and good value for money.
This one delivered exactly that.

The room and the whole hotel has seen better days, but the bed was comfortable and the breakfast plentiful.
Shout out to Sophie at reception who gave us (a bunch of guys on a stag renewal) a list of recommendations for places to go - she's amazing and made our stay even better.

Clean and tidy room, shower head leaking hitting the ceiling and bouncing over to the floor, one towel, toilet flush would only flush once and only two coffee pods was told they would rectify shower head and the toilets all play up not the answer i was looking for. They gave me another couple of towels and coffee pods but never did fix the shower head or the flush breakfast was mediocre at best

Hot sunny day and room very warm when we got in, almost unbearable for me personally and the windows don't open. We used the room thermostat to put fan on full and temp to 19 (lowest possible) and this worked to cool the room after about 10 mins, we kept it on over night, so a little noisy. Room is very spacious, we had it set up for family of 3. Small gripe, there's no shelving or areas for clothes that aren't hanging up, were staying a couple of days for an event so have a variety of clothes, so it would be nice. But gripe aside rooms really clean, we love the mattress and pillows as we get a perfect night's sleep. Staff friendly and reception area welcoming. There's also a very handy Costa and Tesco metro next to the entrance to the hotel, perfect for morning coffee and nighttime snack.
