Staff lovely
Next to railway line and main road .
As no airco , in summer you need window open to make the fan useful , and open the thick curtains to let air circulate, then you have the noise all night .
Coffee at bfast is terrible , one machine , uses some sort of unmarked powder for coffee and milk ! Tastest terrible , which is actually good else the long queue for it would be even worse.
More like a premier inn than an IHG experiance
The biggest disappointment with this hotel is that it can’t be everywhere I want to go! For a shade over £50 I got an exceptionally friendly welcome, a comfy bed in a clean, quiet, and very well appointed room, and had two delicious breakfasts before we left.
I wish you had a hotel just like this in every place I visit.
That said, your has browns are awful!

The room was very clean and quiet which was surprising as it was on the main footway. The reception staff were friendly and the hot breakfast was nice. The only thing I could find wrong with the communal areas are the chairs, too low for a disabled person to get off from, maybe implement some priority accessible seating for disabled people.

We stayed at Holiday Inn Express Gateshead for three weekend nights and had a really pleasant experience from start to finish. Overall, it offered excellent value for money, and we would happily stay here again.
The service was excellent throughout our stay. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming, and the check-in process was quick, easy and completely hassle-free. We also appreciated that there was no additional charge for checking in late, which made our arrival much more convenient.
The room was clean, comfortable and quiet, which was particularly important as we were travelling with children. It felt very child-friendly, and we had no issues with noise or disturbance during our stay. The room had all the basic amenities we needed for a comfortable weekend.
One thing that really impressed us was the attention to small details. We had forgotten our toothbrush and toothpaste, and the hotel was able to provide them for us. It’s a simple thing, but these little touches make a big difference when you’re travelling with a family.
The breakfast was also very good, with a decent selection and plenty to choose from. Considering that breakfast is included, we felt the overall package was very good value for money.
The location is another advantage. It is easy to access from the surrounding areas and convenient for visiting attractions in and around Gateshead and Newcastle, making it a good base for a weekend trip.
After staying for three nights, we were very happy with our experience. Good service, comfortable and quiet family-friendly rooms, decent breakfast, useful amenities and excellent value for money. Definitely a hotel I would recommend for families and anyone looking for a comfortable, reasonably priced stay around Gateshead/Newcastle.
Clean, friendly staff, easy to check in and out. Good selection for breakfast. Complimentary drinks from coffee machine. Can make a brew in your room too with Maxwell and pg tips. Loads of parking available. There is a pub serving the most amazing sunday dinner on the doorstep (30 second walk), as well as KFC and sambucca restaurant 2 to 3 minutes walk.
Metro centre is on the doorstep being an easy 4 minute drive, as well as an asda superstore.
Good place to stay for Beamish. We also did kynren which was a 35 to 40 minute drive away.
