  Terrible experience at the restaurant. The restaurant was almost empty, with no guests. We ordered 2 burguers and had to wait for more than 45 min. When they were served, they were cold. We checked on the chef, and he was a teenager just scrolling down on his phone

  Booked 3 rooms for an early Stansted airport flight. Room Aircon set to minimum of 21⁰c. Stifling for all 3. Asked for 1 twin room many moths ago, got given a double. Awkward. This was the only plus, as they did sort this out quickly, although it did split the elderly party members up from the rest, in a different building. No provision for just an evening meal. Offers only included a breakfast AND evening meal. Tried to get 6 meals, told No room. Although it did look empty. No good, as stated earlier, we had an early flight. This meant a trip to Wetherspoons in the town. Not enjoyable either. Although Saffron Walden looks a nice place. Nice bed, but absolutely stiflingly hot room by default. Lack of sleep made the next day a miserable day travelling and flying. We're the temperature able to be adjusted down, it would have been a 4* experience, and if the restaurant was accommodating, maybe a 5*. Oh and who hides the extra pillows UNDER the bed? Would have made use of those too. Only found them because of a dropped item. Silly

  The bar and restaurant are to small for the complex and the air-conditioning chills your meal. I see from the reply it looks like a standard Premier Inn reply, we and other guests did ask for the air-conditioning to be turned down or off at the time but nothing was done. So much for the on-site assist.

  I have spent three nights here in the Saffron Walden Premier Inn. Several visits here over recent years, first time since the “new” restaurant opened. First two nights in the restaurant there were a few issues, but the third evening in the restaurant the service provided by Lewis was exceptional. Clearly a very busy evening but this young man was very attentive and courteous throughout my time in the restaurant.

  I recently staying at Premier Inn Saffron Walden for two nights on business and arrived with rather a lot of luggage and equipment that I needed to get into my room. When I arrived, there were no parking spaces available immediately outside and, as I was staying in the separate building where the Premier Plus rooms are located, I was genuinely wondering how on earth I was going to get everything unloaded and across to my room. Enter Harry, the manager. Without any hesitation, Harry offered to help. He walked over to the other building while I drove round, allowed me to pull in close for a few minutes so that I could unload safely, and then actually helped me carry everything right to the door of my room. I was genuinely blown away. I travel and stay in hotels regularly for work, and having someone recognise a problem and simply step in to solve it, without being asked, is exceptional customer service. It immediately took away all the anxiety I had about trying to manage everything on my own and made arriving at the hotel so much easier. I promised Harry I’d buy him a drink to say thank you, so later I headed to the bar, which incidentally is a cracking little place for a drink, and there I met the fabulous Lewis. What an absolute sweetheart. Friendly, engaging, attentive and genuinely couldn’t do enough to help. The sort of person who makes you feel welcome rather than simply being served. There simply aren’t enough people in customer service like this anymore. Between Harry and Lewis, this has been some of the best customer service I’ve experienced in a very long time. When you’re travelling for business, particularly when you arrive with equipment and everything you need for a couple of days away, being able to get settled quickly and feel comfortable in your hotel makes a huge difference. These two absolutely nailed it. Well done Premier Inn for employing such fantastic people. Harry and Lewis are an absolute credit to the Saffron Walden team and deserve some recognition. Five stars very happily given.
