  I think people need to be more honest about this Premier Inn in their reviews! This is not one of the nice new ones - the rooms are dated and god forbid you are roomed in the ‘basement’ - where there’s a pervading damp smell along the corridor and a weird musky smell in the bedrooms. As well as a herd of elephants above you every night. The new ‘air con system’ previously mentioned by other reviewers is loud and when in the basement not actually necessary. The breakfast is a shambles - we had breakfast on two mornings and had two different experiences - even down to the croissants not having been through the oven the first morning but they had the next morning (the latter being better). No selection of milks (oat, soya etc) like at other Premier Inns and the whole breakfast offering is served in plastic trays with the lids on (also difficult to serve yourself with a plate in one hand)so clearly just chucked away in the back ready for the next day. All bread was just chucked out in its fluorescent blue unbranded packaging en bulk. Only satsumas available. All cereals in milk jugs with cling film over the top. Just not laid out nicely like a usual Premier Inn. Also, the breakfast is located across the car park in the pub - with an absolutely disgusting entrance (finger prints and smears all over the glass doors, log piles covered in cobwebs) we already knew before we even entered it was going to be terrible. And the toilets are out of order there too. Go figure! Avoid at all costs and pay a bit extra to stay in the city centre one - I will next time I’m here!

  I had an absolutely amazing stay at Colchester primier inn I was working three night shifts as a nurse and needed a comfortable place to rest. My check-in wasn't until 11 AM, but Shelly managed to secure a room for me the morning after my night shift. Her kindness and flexibility truly made my stay incredibly comfortable and stress-free. I highly recommend this hotel all thanks to Shelly !

  Perfecte plaats voor een ontbijt vanaf de boot Hoek van Holland naar Harwich. Half uurtje rijden. Prima ontbijt met veel mogelijkheden voor een vaste prijs. Keuze uit continental of Englisch breakfeast ( goedkopere of duurdere optie). Allebei met genoeg keuzes. Vriendelijk personeel

  Not really much around but if you need a break for around 50quid cant complain at all, plus a very nice pub across the way and shops about 15 minutes away

  The rooms are clean but be aware only the newer ones have Aircon. In the recent heat, the rooms can be very hot. They do their best to compensate for this. As always the shower is great. The staff great. It is quite a way outside Colchester.
