Very nice & clean room with Comfy bed. Professional receptionists they do great. However, there isn’t complementary drinking water in the room nor safety box and refrigerator.

Our family had an excellent stay at the Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile in Edinburgh. The accommodations were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the location was outstanding—close to many of Edinburgh’s major attractions while still providing a quiet place to relax at the end of the day.
What truly made our stay memorable, however, was the exceptional customer service. Noemi and the entire front desk staff were consistently welcoming, professional, and genuinely caring throughout our visit.
Unfortunately, my wife was not feeling well during part of our trip. The hotel staff went above and beyond by taking the time to listen, showing genuine concern, and helping point us in the right direction to better understand her symptoms and seek appropriate assistance. Their kindness, compassion, and willingness to help made a difficult situation much easier for our family. It was clear they truly cared about our well-being, and that left a lasting impression on us.
Outstanding customer service can make all the difference, and this team certainly demonstrated that. I would not hesitate to stay at the Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile again, and I would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, conveniently located hotel with a staff that truly cares about its guests.
Thank you, Noemi and the entire team, for helping make our trip to Edinburgh a memorable one.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh – Royal Mile (Cowgate) for 4-5 nights and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience overall, with only the location standing out as a positive.
The location was excellent—very central and convenient for exploring Edinburgh, especially the Royal Mile and nearby attractions. That was genuinely the only strong point of the stay.
We booked a room for three people, but the room was far too small to comfortably accommodate a group of this size. There wasn’t enough floor space for three suitcases, so we had to place two suitcases on the desk. However, the desk was directly in front of the sofa bed, which made access to the luggage extremely difficult. We also had to move the only chair and ironing board outside the room and request housekeeping to collect them due to lack of space. The sofa bed itself was poorly designed, with a hollow edge that made it uncomfortable and unsafe to sit on.
The breakfast buffet was disappointing, particularly for vegetarians. There were very limited vegetarian protein options. The scrambled eggs contained milk, and when we asked for alternatives such as boiled eggs or a plain omelette, we were told that only what was already available could be offered. Breakfast was largely limited to hash browns, baked beans, bread, yogurt, milk, and tomatoes. Fresh fruit options were also limited, mainly apples and oranges, and bananas were rarely available.
The lift system was also problematic. The lift indicators were not working on the guest room floors or on the breakfast buffet floor (-1), meaning there was no way to know how long the lift would take to arrive. Only the reception floor indicator worked. On one occasion, our Uber had arrived, so we used the fire exit stairs instead, but we were discouraged from using the fire exit doors and stairs. This was frustrating given the lift issues. The lifts themselves were also very slow, and a recurring alarm or false alarm sound was heard frequently.
Overall, while the location is excellent, the stay itself was disappointing. The room size was not suitable for three people, and the breakfast offering felt very limited, especially for vegetarians. I would not recommend the breakfast upgrade, and for groups of three, I would suggest considering other accommodation options.
