My Wife and I stayed for two nights,we found the staff quite blunt,we also didn’t know you had to actually ask for your room to be cleaned and ask for fresh towels,it would have been very useful if we were told this information at time of check-in,we had breakfast both mornings and the food was excellent.

We stayed for 1 night and we would highly recommend this hotel, room was comfortable and very clean. We also had breakfast which was freshly cooked and good quality produce. We have to mention the young gentleman who was checking people into the restaurant his customer service was excellent only sorry I didn’t get his name, hr was so helpful and it was very apparent he loved his job. He us an absolute asset to your hotel and I cannot praise him enough, I will certainly stay here again when I return to Durham

Second time staying at this hotel. Hotel staff are lovely and food is good but the cleanliness of the room wasn’t the best during my second stay. Big blood stain on the duvet when I checked in, can’t understand why house keeping would even bother putting this on the bed rather than disposing of it. Just glad I noticed it and didn’t actually sleep in the bed with the gross duvet. Don’t see how housekeeping missed it though as it was on the top side of the duvet so I noticed it pretty much straight away. Receptionist was great though and got me a replacement straight away. Bathroom could do with a more thorough clean around the vent which is thick with dust above the mirror.

Room and the location were good but service was not attentive. Once you engaged with them they were amazing but if you were just trying to get their attention you would need them to finish their chat before being given the time of day. Room was fine, although quite dark. Breakfast was bare bones but it sort of did the job. There were no amenities to speak of so nothing to say there. WiFi was abysmal. Even the upgraded one.

We needed somewhere for one night - this came up trumps, right in the city centre within easy reach of eateries (Bistro Italiano I would highly recommend) the Cathedral and the Castle.
You can easily spend 3 - 4 hours in the beautiful cathedral which we did - it's cafe is also first class.
The hotel was spotlessly clean the staff are very helpful polite and professional.
The room was lovely and clean, the towels etc fresh and soft and thankfully not saturated in fabric conditioner. Tea and coffee available with decaff tea by the lift where you can top up others as well.
Air conditioning is easy to use and effective.
Second pillows are available in the room as are USB chargers beside the bed.
I especially like the twin shower where you can miss the rain shower but still get showered.
We didn't use the hotel restaurant for dinner but breakfast was really good with a good range of cereals, pastries etc plus fresh fruit, yoghurt (from a large self serve bowl not the revolting sweet fruit flavoured pots).
No downsides whatsoever and highly recommend.
