  left my bag downstairs accidentally and asked that evening if it was handed in, only to be told by the night porter that there wasn’t anything handed in. i asked if he could check and he rudely refused. luckily i tried again the following morning and a very helpful member of staff checked and immediately found it. i find it worrying that i could have went without my possessions purely because the night porter couldn’t be bothered checking.

  Michael was incredibly rude when we came back to our room. We asked politely if we could watch the end of the football game on the TV and he aggressively shouted at us that we needed to go to our rooms. Despite there being 20 people already sitting in the reception watching the game. Completely reasonable request but to speak to customers in that way is simply unacceptable. Otherwise an excellent experience!

  This Holiday Inn Express is perfectly located for Derry city centre, and we found the rooms to be comfortably quiet despite that proximity. The staff are friendly, approachable and efficient; the amenities are clean, and the vibe is one of easy relaxation.

  We paid for a slightly larger room (well worth it) and were very pleased with the hotel. Even the free breakfast was of a good quality. Parking is available in the shopping centre opposite for a ‘discounted’ £12 per night (which seemed a little steep). Whilst the location isn’t as good as some Derry hotels, it’s such a small city it only takes a few minutes to walk into the centre.

  If I could give less stars I most certainly would. There were a few minor issues we were willing to let slide until the morning we were leaving. We arrived home from a night out and got into bed. Imagine our surprise the next morning when I realised I’d been lying all night on dried blood which was not mine. We had to leave to get a train and therefore decided to email after. I tried to ring to speak to the manager who abruptly ushered me off the phone because he was busy. His attitude was that because it wasn’t brought up the previous evening (blood was noticed then because we hadn’t gotten into bed yet) that nothing could be done except be offered some points to stay at their hotel or another. After back and forth and having to chase him I finally accepted this. This was in March and I’m still awaiting a response - avoid!
