The room was good, clean and tidy and the beds we're comfortable. But it really really needs Aircon. The room was unbearably hot, the two fans that were provided just weren't good enough. I slept so badly and woke up in a pool of sweat in the morning.

Rooms have no air conditioning and windows only open a couple of inches. Room temperature never dropped below 30.5 C. Fans useless. Got no sleep at all. Would’ve been better off sleeping on a park bench.

No air con. Fan provided but too loud. Windows do not open wide enough. If you like sleeping in a sauna, this hotel is for you!

Room was unbearably hot, but the biggest issue was the member of staff on reception who we reported it to. She was completely dismissive of our concerns and was extremely rude to my wife, with frequent rolling of her eyes, making it absolutely clear (through her words and her body language) that she just didn't care. The room was also extremely filthy - a complete let down to the Premier Inn brand. Not worth the £264 we paid for 2 nights - I've slept in much cleaner hostels. Didn't bother reporting the state of the room to reception - Why open ourselves up to another barrage of contempt from the staff

We stayed at this Premier Inn over one of the hottest weekends of the year, and it was, without question, the worst hotel experience we've ever had. The problems started before we'd even reached our room. Check-in is via a self-service terminal, which would be fine if it actually worked for anything other than the simplest booking. My father had booked two rooms under his name, and there was no way of identifying which room was ours or which one had the requested travel cot. We had no choice but to wait for a member of staff to assist us. Even then, there was confusion over the booking before we were finally given our keys. Walking to our room, the entrance to the building was littered with discarded cigarette butts. It gave an immediate impression that cleanliness and maintenance simply weren't a priority. Opening the room door was like stepping into an oven. The temperature outside was around 34°C, yet the room itself was still approximately 32°C. We were informed at reception that the hotel has no air conditioning and that each room is provided with one fan. We actually had two fans in our room, and we'd also brought two of our own, yet four fans running continuously, day and night, made virtually no difference whatsoever. The room was completely uninhabitable. The travel cot I'd specifically requested for our four-month-old baby turned out to be a sofa bed. Thankfully, this was the one positive part of our stay. The receptionist was genuinely helpful, sourced a proper cot and had it set up within 15 minutes. She deserves credit for that. Unfortunately, the cot itself was dreadful. The mattress was so thin it felt like cardboard wrapped in plastic, and we could clearly feel the metal support bars underneath. There was absolutely no way we were putting our baby to sleep on it. He ended up sleeping in our bed because it was the safer option. Even then, the heat was unbearable. Every time our baby woke for a feed, my husband and I were soaking ourselves in cold water before standing directly in front of the fans in an attempt to cool down. Within seconds of walking away, we were clammy and sweating again. My husband spent the first night sleeping on the floor because the bed was simply too hot. The second night, after packing away the unusable cot, he slept on the sofa bed instead. We deliberately stayed out until almost 9pm on the second evening just to avoid returning to the room. Despite this, the temperature remained intolerable. Our baby was constantly warm, and we spent the entire night worrying about the risk the heat posed to him. No family should be put in that position. It wasn't just our room. My sister had to change rooms because hers smelled strongly of kitchens and sweat and had mould in the bathroom. She even gave us the fan from her replacement room, meaning we eventually had five fans running. The room still didn't cool down. In the end, we checked out a day early. The conditions were simply unsafe for a four-month-old baby, and frankly, I was surprised more guests weren't becoming ill. There were numerous elderly guests staying at the hotel too, and I found myself genuinely concerned for their wellbeing in those temperatures. What shocked me most was the reaction when we checked out. The receptionist genuinely couldn't understand why we were leaving early. After spending two nights in a room that remained over 30°C despite five fans, with no air conditioning and no realistic way of cooling it down, I found that astonishing. Would I stay here again? Absolutely not. Premier Inn promotes itself as offering a guaranteed good night's sleep. There was absolutely nothing restful about this stay. In extreme temperatures, a hotel without air conditioning needs to have far better contingency plans than simply handing guests a fan and hoping for the best. I would never put my family through this experience again, and I certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone travelling with children, elderly relatives or anyone vulnerable to heat.
