  Disappointed with the parking information I booked this Premier Inn two weeks in advance mainly because it had parking. But there was no information when I booked that the car park was under maintenance. I only found out after booking, and the restaurant was also under maintenance. We had to park elsewhere and walk about 3 minutes to collect the car. I really think guests should be told about this before booking, especially when parking was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel. Quite disappointing.

  Convenient location in the town. Parking is tricky currently (building work to the restaurant area July 2026).

  I was a little concerned having seen some of the reviews but this Premier Inn was really great value for money. We were able to check in early on arrival and reception were fantastic with their service. Room was decent and it was nice of them to offer a breakfast due to the ongoing work on the restaurant. Only minor gripes were that the car park was closed meaning we had to carry a lot of luggage from the car park, and there was no ironing board to go with the iron. The location is great though and the aircon was a blessing in the heatwave

  We have stayed with Premier Inn many times over the years, which made this experience particularly disappointing. We paid extra for a Premier Plus room expecting a higher standard, but from the moment we arrived there were several maintenance issues, including a broken fridge door, stains all over the floor, missing towel hooks and peeling worktops. The biggest problem was the bathroom, which had a strong smell of damp and mould that kept us awake for much of the first night. The extractor fan didn’t work, making the smell even worse. The following morning we discovered the shower was unusable because the water was stuck at a dangerously scalding temperature. We reported it immediately, but we were told, “maintenance isn’t in until tomorrow so I’ll try and have a look at it,” and it wasn’t repaired until the following day. We were also disappointed to find dirty footprints left in the shower after the repair. Service was equally poor. We had to ask twice for coffee pods before eventually collecting them ourselves from reception. Despite requesting housekeeping, our room wasn’t cleaned, the bed wasn’t made, used mugs and glasses weren’t replaced, and refreshments weren’t replenished. We also noticed there is a review of the same room, 218, from four months ago reporting the very same issues we experienced, including the shower temperature control, missing towel racks and general maintenance problems. It is extremely disappointing that these issues were apparently known about for months, yet the room was still being sold to guests without them being properly addressed. We understand the hotel is undergoing refurbishment, but that shouldn’t mean guests are sold rooms with known maintenance issues or receive such poor service. We were only informed when booking that the restaurant would be out of use and, a month before our stay, advised there would be “slight noise” between 8am and 6pm, with no option to change or amend our booking. In reality, we were woken twice at exactly 8am by drilling directly outside our room, as well as a skip lorry reversing for around half an hour. To make matters worse, this stay was for my partner’s birthday, and instead of relaxing we spent much of our time reporting problems and chasing requests. The staff were mainly polite, but there seemed to be a lack of communication and urgency in dealing with the issues we raised. We made every effort to resolve these problems during our stay by reporting them as they occurred. After returning home, we also completed Premier Inn’s feedback form in the hope that the company would address our concerns directly. However, after waiting nine days, we have still not received any response, which has only added to our disappointment. Sadly, this was the worst Premier Inn experience we’ve had, and it has made us question whether we’ll stay with the brand again.
