  Fantastic friendly staff at reception and the Locks restaurant. Very clean and well kept public areas and bedrooms, only slight downside being the scaffolding being in place due to external renovation work being carried out. The view across the canal was pretty good considering how obscured it was. Check in was prompt, efficient and friendly. The breakfast was out of this world, being as much as you want and unusually for buffet type meals ,actually very warm. The staff were very attentive and really friendly. The view over the canal was brilliant and we watched the swans and ducks being fed by customers with food provided by the hotel. The major failing with the hotel is the often reported lack of parking. There was a wedding taking place when we arrived back on the Saturday evening only to find the car park absolutely full with cars parked all over the place , even on double yellow lines even though signs said not to. I enquired at the reception where I was meant to park and told not to park on the yellow lines but to cross the access bridge and park in the overflow carpark on the right hand side. This is an area of in effect waste ground with minimal lighting and bushes blocking the view to the hotel. Only in the morning whilst speaking to one of the breakfast staff , I found out that the overflow carpark is actually located on the left hand side with a very small sign saying so. Maybe improve this aspect of it and actually highlight the location , or even better , prioritise parking for residents and use the overflow car park for other using the hotel. The parking issue should not detract from how good this hotel is.

  STAFF ARE RUDE. NOISE FROM DOWNSTAIRS IS RIDICULOUS. NO NOTICE OF A WEDDING BEING ON AND MUSIC BLARING AT 11.50pm APPARENTLY UNTIL 1AM. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

  Rang up to enquire whether we could come for a casual swim in the pool, without being a part of the hotel, and we booked a time for me, and two others. The young man working (tall dark hair and glasses) was so helpful and lovely! Came for a lovely swim, 45 minute slot! The pool itself is small, with 1.5m depth, but is ideal for a quick swim! They also have a sauna you can use next to the pool. Changing rooms were great, even had built in hair dryers, although you will need £1 coin for the lockers. Thank you so much for a lovely afternoon.

  Great location. Reasonably sized rooms. Bath feels small and shower smaller. £15 for breakfast and from the coffee point of view only included filter coffee. No latte no cappuccino. Only at extra cost. Only Holiday Inn that I have come across this. Even a Holiday Inn Express offers a latte in the price! Wetherspoons offers unlimited latte for less than £2!
