This hotel is a real gem in Chester. It is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We got a beautiful upgraded room at check-in with a patio, skyline views, and lots of space. There was a horseracing theme to the decor and the hallway room numbers are a nice touch. The service of the staff is extremely good - they seem to take genuine pride in running the place, which is rare. The only negative is no parking, but there is a hidden lot on Forest Street behind that has a reasonable overnight rate.
14-15 June, one night.
Stayed for one night with 3 pax, in a twin queenside beds. Room is facing the main room, facing St Werburgh’s Church.
Hotel has the modern vibes with a bar and restaurant on the ground floor. There are 4 levels for rooms. We got the room on level 1.
Room insulation is great, with little road noise. Room is compact, comfortable for 3 pax. Two queenside beds with nice, firmed matteress. We enjoyed our sleep.
The bath room has standing shower with nice deco. The overhead shower was strong and the shampoo felt so smooth on my hair. One of the best i had for a while.
Once you are out of the hotel, turn left, follow by another left and it’s a short walk to Chester Cathedral and the centre of Chester where there are eateries, bars, restaurants available.
Note that for parking, the nearest is APCOA car park at Pepper Street Chester. It’s 650m away and a good 6+ min walk from the hotel. Best to leave your luggage at the hotel before you part your car there. It’s a narrow multi-story parking with low headroom. It’s advisable to park head-in. Good to have smaller cars. The hotel will reimburse the parking for your stay as a Diamond member.
We walked around the town in the evening and decided to have dinner back in the hotel’s restaurant, The Forge. We ordered French Onion Soup, Wagyu Brisket Burger, Overnight Braised Sticky Ox Cheek (it was sold out so we got Herb Butter Rolled PorkBelly), Cumbrian Chicken Supreme. The last 2 dishes served with glazed root veg, roast potatoes, green, with Yorkshire pudding and red wine gravy. We have a few glasses of wines to go with it. It was a relaxing atmosphere. We brought out wines to the bar after dinner to chillax and enjoyed the evening sunset.
Breakfast at level 1 starts from 6.30am. We had ours around 8.30am. They have the usual hot food: sausage, bacon, baked beans, tomatoes and mushrooms. There’s a cheese and cornflake corner, plus coffee machines. There’s a menu that we could chose from for our morning dish, as well as eggs made to your liking.
check out time is 11am. We had a late checkout that was nice as our next stay is at 3pm.
Overall it was a pleasant short stay.
Excellent stay in Chester.
The location is perfect – within easy walking distance of the city centre, Chester Cathedral, the Rows, restaurants, and shops. It was a great base for exploring the city.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. After staying in another hotel without air conditioning earlier in my trip, I really appreciated having a comfortable room to relax in after a day of sightseeing.
Breakfast was also very good, with a nice selection and freshly prepared dishes. The smoked salmon breakfast was particularly enjoyable.
The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Overall, a wonderful hotel experience and I would happily stay here again on my next visit to Chester.

Stayed for a night, as part of a birthday treat. The hotel is very well presented, with comfortable and trendy rooms. Being so close to Chester, but a little bit out of the centre is perfect. Close enough to walk, but yet quite quiet. We had one of the best experiences with the lady who checked us out this afternoon. It was a moment of when you meet someone who cares enough to want and pass your expectations. And she did! Definitely an asset to the hotel, and because of her we will definitely be back. I think her name was Sophie (I hope I remembered it correctly, and she was showing Megan how to exceed customer expectations!)
