  We had a lovely holiday in Chester/Wales and Liverpool using the Hotel as a base. The location was good with very good rail and bus links. Our room was always clean and comfortable with tea/coffee and milk restocked daily. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was good. Thank you.

  We recently (10th of September) stayed in Room 312 and reported several issues, including a heavily soiled sofa bed, a blocked bathroom extractor fan and a blocked sink. We were offered Room 316, but it had similar problems, so we stayed in Room 312. I showed photographs to Maintenance at check-out. Reception promised 5,000 compensation points plus 500 Green Stay points, but neither has been credited. I emailed the hotel to follow up and received no response. I understand maintenance issues can happen, but the lack of follow-up and failure to honour the promised points is very disappointing. I hope the hotel addresses these issues for future guests.

  Two weeks on a business trip and I couldn’t really fault it. Outside looked like a dentist’s/NHS building, but inside it was actually quite nice - nice decor, calm, quiet and clean. Smoking bench and little garden to stare at out front were welcome features. Gym was standard hotel fare (basic if you lift anything real), but workable if you’re not precious. Pool was decent in the mornings. Breakfast was excellent - loaded up on the protein and coffee. Staff were sharp, friendly and attentive; the bar lot tolerated my deranged ramblings without flinching. Rooms were no-frills but the beds (very very good), AC and blackout curtains all did the job. Nothing fancy, nothing broken. I lived out of this place for two weeks without drama, so it was doing something right. If I'm working at this part of the country or my house burns down, I will be back.

  I stayed at this hotel many times in the past so was really disappointed to discover how much it has changed. Our room was ok but cold ( even after we were told it had been sorted). The dining facilities are not great and although breakfast was acceptable I don't enjoy eating bacon that's like cardboard. Overall the property looks tired and in need of a meltdown face lift. Sorry Holiday Inn but this time you've fallen short of the standard I normally associate with your brand.
