  Good location for this typical HI hotel. “Upgraded” our 2-night stay to the “suite” - a mysterious room (250) which doesn’t feature on any direction signs and slightly tricky to find. It is essentially an old meeting room converted to a “suite” combined with the room next door. To say the room is a “suite” is a bit optimistic frankly. It has a separate seating area/room but a sofa(bed?) and a random table with four chairs and a couple of seats do not a suite make. Very harsh lighting - no soft lighting whatsoever, a few standard lamps would help make the room more pleasant. It also needs a sink or kitchenette to make it more functional. A very over the top air conditioning unit keeps the “suite” cool. The lounge area of the “suite” felt like my dentist’s waiting area. It wasn’t a homely or particularly embracing place to spend any time. There is a fridge and usual tea & coffee facilities. Biscuits in the fridge. And a carafe supplied for chilled water to be self-served from the communal water filter in the public area(s); glasses and wine glasses also available. The adjacent bedroom ok, powerful (but noisy) additional air conditioning unit. Firm mattress, lumpy pillows. No mattress protector or under-sheet for the bed so it felt a bit grim sleeping on a thin sheet on a mattress with goodness knows what on it. Broken table lamp. Small and next-to-useless cupboard for storage. Some shortage of sockets for charging. Didn’t see any usable USB ports. The bathroom a shower (waterfall type but it sprayed everywhere). The drainage inadequate and the shower tray easily flooded the bathroom floor after moderate use. Large bath, but not utilised. Heated towel rail - located far too high to be easily accessed. Heated mirror which seemed to be set at 1000° Any positives? Friendly staff. Large free car park. We didn’t partake in any food or use of the bar. Would I stay again? Probably yes - but avoid the “suite” in its current setup which is an absolute folly and not worth the expense of upgrading to.

  Super hotel in great area for all places. Clean fresh and comfy. Breakfast choice is also good for holiday inn guests. And all at reasonable prices. Im enjoying my stay.
