Very disappointed with our experience at the LEGO Discovery Centre Birmingham.
My wife and I walked around 30 minutes to reach the venue and intended to make purchases in the shop. Before shopping, I politely asked if I could use the accessible toilet as I am disabled. I even showed my Disabled Persons Railcard to explain why I was asking.
The receptionist told me the toilets were inside the attraction and that I could not access them because of safeguarding. I asked to speak to a manager, and Kelly came to reception but repeated the same explanation. While I completely understand the importance of safeguarding, I was disappointed that no alternative solution or assistance was offered.
The interaction left me feeling embarrassed and unwelcome. A little understanding or discretion would have made a huge difference, especially given my disability and the fact we were genuine customers intending to spend money in the shop.
Had we been visiting the attraction itself, I struggle to understand why using the toilet would have been any different. Instead, we left feeling disappointed before we had even started shopping.
I hope the centre reviews how situations like this are handled in future. Disabled customers should feel supported and treated with empathy, and I believe there was an opportunity here to provide much better customer service.

Have been to a few similar places and this was a bit on the small side. Kids got a bit bored quickly and there really isn't much to do other than build Lego from random peices dumped in a box.
Can't really comment on staff as didn't really speak to any, but the cleanliness could easily be improved.
The mini city area has been made up to have Birmingham sites which was good, likely the best thing.
For the price it's a not quite there for us. Thier feedback machines are aweful and just keep asking more and more complex questions, gave up in the end and wrote here instead.

We are regular customers. Our Son has recently had a terrible accident on site, caused by a dangerously slippy floor. He was rushed to Birmingham Children's hospita, and his injury resulted in stitches being required. There will be significant scarring no doubt. We have had terrible after care, consistently being ignored, people passing the book and you might know... claiming no fault. Refusing to provide the CCTV footage that proves our case, nor providing a copy of the incident report form completed at the time of the incident. Disgrace. They haven't so much as sent our little boy a box of lego!! I will be taking this further.
What an exceptional day! As a wheelchair user you never know what sort of day lays ahead for you. But the staff were extremely helpful straight away and have us access passes to the rides and 4D cinema which was much appreciated.
Me and my 8 year old twins for the £5 activity packs which were well worth it!
Both rides are a lot do fun but the 4D cinema stole the show! They have 3 shows that are 10 mins long each.
I recommend getting your kids to take part in the little build challenges as they get a mini figure at the end of it. Also when you show your activity pack on the shop at the end you get another mini figure 🥰
Whole venue was accessable. There was lots of Lego on the floor that did affwct my wheelchair, but there were staff constantly sweeping up the Lego with brooms to help.
