I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times and, unfortunately, the biggest issue isn’t the rooms or the facilities, it’s the way guests and staff are treated.
The atmosphere created by the management is incredibly uncomfortable. The general manager has a very obvious “I’m above everyone else” attitude and speaks to staff in a way that is patronising and belittling. It is genuinely uncomfortable to watch, particularly when many of the employees are young.
What concerns me even more is what I have witnessed involving female members of staff and male guests. There have been instances of behaviour that was clearly inappropriate and sexually harassing towards young female employees, yet there appeared to be very little done to support or protect them. Watching young staff members have to deal with that while management seemingly carries on as normal is honestly shocking.
The attitude towards guests isn’t much better either. I have personally witnessed the manager speaking to guests in a rude and condescending manner, with the same apparent attitude that she is somehow above them. That is not the standard of customer service I would expect from a hotel, regardless of how busy it is.
I’ve stayed here enough times to know that this isn’t a one-off bad interaction. There is a clear culture issue. Staff deserve to be treated with basic respect, young women deserve to feel safe at work, and guests deserve to be spoken to like human beings rather than inconveniences.
I certainly won’t be rushing back. A hotel can have clean rooms and a convenient location, but if the people running it make both guests and staff uncomfortable, none of that counts for much.
