Hotel Indigo® Savannah Historic District is the perfect destination for your Savannah experience, steps from City Market, Forsyth Park, Ellis Square, River Street and more than 150 restaurants and bars. Like our Spanish-moss-draped city herself, our hotel is the perfect mix of old and new featuring a historic building with authentic suites along with modern rooms, gathering spaces and amenities that every visitor will love.
Known to locals as the "Grand Lady on the Bay", our building was once 19th-century mega-merchant Simon Guckenheimer's dry goods storage house, which was filled with everything the South made best, from tobacco to canned peaches. The 1940's and '50s brought a grocery store with the city's first true coffeehouse. Now, the Grand Lady stands as a charming boutique hotel with modern style in the vibrant Ellis Square that reflects the essence of Savannah's renowned Historic District.
Guests enjoy our acclaimed location in the heart of it all, along with true Southern hospitality. After a delicious breakfast or cocktail at our lobby bar, immerse yourself in our neighborhood's rich culture at City Market, located next door. Then embark on one of the tours Savannah has to offer with several iconic squares located steps from our door. Make your way down cobblestone paths to famous River Street, where you can watch ships enter and exit the harbor while savoring Southern comfort food. Hotel Indigo sets the stage for a remarkable Savannah stay!
The hotel is praised for its excellent location in the historic district, close to attractions and River Street.

The staff for most of stay was extremely unprofessional. They were acting like they didn't want to be there and that actually doing their jobs was too inconvenient for them. The our room was supposed to be ready by 4pm. We got there a little after 10:00pm and it still wasn't quite ready. She called someone from her personal cell phone to see if our room was ready. We had room 718. We were opened our room door, the toilet look like it was just flushed and the TV was on! It literally looked like someone was simply relaxing in our room before we arrived. We asked for our complimentary room upgrade and she gave us a quick no without even bothering to actually check. She was incredibly rude. She was also supposed to give us points instead of an extra drink and we still have not received them. We did use the drink tokens before they closed and our bartender was an absolute joy. He was the only staff member that night that was polite, professional, and courteous. Our blueberry drink was the perfect thing to take the edge off from such a frustrating check in experience. Even the valet workers that night was completely unprofessional and rude. The one who eventually helped us barely looked up at us to talk and simple gave us brief talk about using the new app to get our car when we were ready for it. I had to practically put the keys in the other guy's hands, as neither one of them tried to actually get our car key after the app was set up like they didn't even want it. The attitude of the night staff (sans the bartender), the way our room situation was handled, and the overall old smell, and slow flushing toilet than ran at random times throughout the night did not give us the quality sleep environment that we were expecting. Fortunately for us, it was only a one night stay or we certainly would have checked out early and took our business elsewhere. The only reason I didn't deduct an additional star was because our room was free, but for the night daily rate and valet fee, the quality certainly did not match the price. Our previous stay here was amazing, but last night's stay was a huge let down from before. This will be our last time staying at this hotel.

Valet staff is incompetent, rude, and obnoxious. Very condescending when simply asked a fairly mundane question. I had to reverse my car into a spot near the valet stand to ask a quick question, and one of the valets who was parking a truck behind me thought it reasonable to blast the horn at me for like 3-5 seconds straight, even though there was plenty of room (I'm talking 20-30+ ft of space) behind me. Absurd.
