3.5/5, Great, clean, and comfortable rooms, excellent helpful staff, but I can’t justify a full 4 stars because of the parking situation. If you can’t find a spot in the primary half lot, you have to park in a garage 2.5 blocks away. No shuttle service, no valet parking, no benches to rest on in between. If you’re handicap or have limited walking capacity and can’t find a hotel parking space, you are SOL. Also, if you do have to park garage, you need your key to get out in addition to entering.

I chose this Hampton Inn because of its proximity to SCAD, as my daughter and I were there for the SCAD open house weekend. It is very, very close to the SCAD museum (where we checked in) and the dorms. Also, it is very close to the Telfair Museum and the Telfair Academy. We walked everywhere as usual and had no problems at all. I chose the two-queen room with a pull-out sofa bed so we would have a little extra room, and the size was great. The room was huge compared to most hotel rooms. I was very pleased with the size and the furnishings. The main problem was the air conditioning. This is November, so the AC units should not be stressed at these temperatures. It was boiling hot when we entered our room, so I set the window unit to 70 and we left for several hours. When we returned, the room was cooler but definitely not 70. After multiple attempts over 3 days, I finally got it to cool down. I had to set the window AC on 65 to have it register 70 degrees on the room thermostat on the wall (which doesn't adjust). I read many reviews with the same complaint... the hotel AC probably needs to be replaced. If the system is struggling in November, it will really be under duress in July! In Savannah, GA, A/C is a must. Folks will not stay here if their rooms are hot. I was able to check in at 12:30 pm which I was very thankful for. I appreciated that gesture by the front desk. I did, however, get one of the last available (paid) parking spaces in their lot. I'm not sure where folks have to park after 3:00 pm, but that lot doesn't look like it would hold a fraction of the cars staying there. Just a FYI, get there early and don't move your car if you want to keep a spot! Overall, we were happy with our room but I feel like we paid quite a lot for the level of quality we received.
