Very close to I 475, so traffic noise is constant. Handicap room didn't have a grab bar by the toilet.

While traveling to another state, my husband decided to stop at the half-way point. He reserved the Garner Hotel in Macon. I have to admit, I was skeptical! I prefer to NOT try hotels that aren’t well-known! I’ve had one too many bad experiences at others. I have to admit that I was surprised! The hotel was very nice, quiet, and very accessible to/from the highway! The room was spacious! The bed was quite comfortable. We were given a handicapped accessible room because those are the only ones that have a bathtub. The issues I saw in our room were all cosmetic, not operational/functional. The most disturbing one was the (I’m assuming) hair conditioner left on the back wall of the shower wall from the previous occupant. Shouldn’t that have been removed when the room was cleaned following their check-out date? The bathtub had a gouge or some other sort of damage to its basin that looked to have been filled with caulk or putty and then painted over. Also in the bathroom, the grout was absent between some of the tiles in the baseboard…. Which could lead to bigger issues in the event of toilet/bathtub overflow. And…. Also cosmetic… there has been something adhered to the back of the room door… and the residue was still on the door collecting anything that would stick to it.. pretty nasty to look at every time you exit the room. But, as stated, these are all cosmetic! We did have a pleasant stay! The staff that we interacted with was great! Would stay here again if ever in Macon again!

I literally have never written a bad review on google for any business even when I may not have had the best experience. As a business owner myself, I do not want to hurt a business' reputation and owner if I have had just a single poor experience as it may just have been a one-off or a problem with a single employee that does not reflect the business as a whole. All that being said I feel I have no choice but to write this scathing review because for my wife and myself this experience was completely unacceptable when it comes to a hotel so here it goes. We planned to go to a concert in Macon on 10/11/25 and booked the hotel weeks in advance as we knew this was going to be a highly attended concert. We left the morning of 10/11/25 from Florida and drove 6 hours to get to the hotel around 4pm as the concert started at 6:30pm and we wanted to be able to pick up some food, drop our stuff off, take a shower, change and lay down and unwind for an hour before heading off for the concert after being in the car for 6 hours. When we walked up to the front desk we were told that though check in was supposed to be at 3pm, the front desk person was not sure when our room would be ready as it had not been cleaned yet. We told her we would be ok with downgrading to any other room but were told that there were no clean rooms available and that there were many people in our exact situation on a waiting list for a clean room to become available. The desk person, who was incredibly nice, explained that she had informed the owner weeks in advance that this was their busy season and that there was a concert and festival this weekend and that he needed to hire extra cleaning staff otherwise this exact situation was going to happen. She then gave us the owner's email to contact him about a partial refund and told us she would text us when our room was available. We sat in the hotel lobby until 6pm without our room ever becoming available so we finally had to leave for our 630pm concert without checking in. At 8pm during the concert I received a text from the front desk that our room was finally available. The concert ended at 11pm and we got back to the hotel at around 1130pm. We were promptly able to check in and receive our room keys. When we got to the room it smelled like a dirty rag and was clearly only half-cleaned as I'm sure it was done in a hurry because of lack of staff. We checked out the next morning and I emailed the owner, Mr. Patel, to the email I was given from the hotel business card. I explained in detail exactly what had happened and that I wanted at least a partial refund because we paid to have the room from check in at 3pm until checkout the next day but the room only became available at 8pm 5 hours late and was not fully cleaned. I gave Mr. Patel 7 days until today to reply and received absolutely nothing which is why I am now writing this review. I would have been ok with even just hotel credit toward a future stay or at the very minimum an apology for our inconvenience so receiving absolutely no reply is completely unacceptable to me. As a business owner myself, I understand trying to save money where possible, but there are customer standards you have to maintain and for a hotel owner one of those is making sure that people are able to check in and receive their room on time. I know things can happen and mistakes can be made, but when your front desk person is warning you in advance to hire more cleaning people for a specific weekend because there are multiple events in town otherwise rooms will not be ready on time and you choose to ignore them, then the blame is solely on you as the business owner. The least you should then do is reach out to your customers to apologize for their experience though really in my opinion you need to compensate them for the amount of time they were supposed to have the room for, but were not given. Imagine paying full price to rent something and then getting 5 fewer hours of access to it even though that's what you paid for.

The hotel overall was GREAT! Decent size rooms, clean, great water pressure, friendly staff, nice breakfast, good coffee, central location, ample parking, quiet, amazing squishy pillows, indoor pool and fitness center, kids friendly, autism friendly... The ONLY issue was the bed! I was in desperate need of a good night sleep and the mattress was so firm it was like sleeping on concrete! It was HORRIBLE! I couldn't get comfortable.I got up in the morning with more aches and pains than I've ever had. PLEASE CHANGE THE BEDS and this hotel would be AMAZING but for that reason, I'd never stay again.
