The bad: The room lighting could definitely be improved. Also, having only one trash can in the room wasn’t very convenient.
The good: Location, location, location. Being beachfront with direct access to the bike trail is a huge plus. Don’t expect a luxury hotel, but overall the vibe is solid and enjoyable. The kids had fun which is all that matters.
To management: Breakfast should be open seating since it’s buffet-style anyway. With only two waitresses working, they were clearly stretched thin trying to keep up.

This is one of my family’s favorite places to visit 2-3 times on average per year. My family stayed from 4/2-4/5/2026 in rooms 109 & 122. I have been coming to this same place since I was a child and have made it a tradition. I am somewhat disappointed in my stay this time at the HI resort and really hope that things improve before my next visit. My wife and I stayed in room 109 and the air conditioner was comparable to a small oscillating fan during the day, with 75 degrees being as cool as the ac would get. Water was leaking out of the air conditioning and soaked the carpet from the wall to the bed. Unfortunately, the resort was sold out and were not able to switch rooms. Staff were notified and came and cleaned up the water from the carpet. The hot tub was out of order with caution tape around it. We prepaid for the breakfast(all days for both rooms) at the coastal 24(restaurant on the resort). The breakfast was not even comparable to a complimentary breakfast from an average HI. Buffet bar breakfast: Every morning the bacon was burnt sitting in grease, eggs, grits and waffles with potatoes every day. Plates for the buffet still had food particles left on them. After the first two mornings I decided to pay to go somewhere else. Only one ice machine, on the 2nd floor of the lobby by the laundry area. 2/3 times that I walked to the lobby for ice, the ice machine was empty. My family and I did not complain or ask for anything extra, refund…etc but we did pay a lot to stay at the resort and would have preferred to enjoy what we paid for. I do appreciate all of the staff and the hospitality of the island, & for my sake hope things improve. Sincerely-Mike W Collins

Unsafe, Dirty, and Completely Deceptive
Our stay at Holiday Inn Resort Jekyll Island completely ruined our 1-year anniversary.
After a 4-hour drive, we walked into a room where the door had clearly been broken into and would not lock or close properly. Maintenance “fixed” it, but it was still not secure. We were told no other rooms were available, so we were stuck in an unsafe room.
The conditions were disgusting—strong mold smell, sagging worn-out bed, damaged walls, and heavily stained chairs. We heard loud banging noises all night and got zero sleep. In the morning, we found two large cockroaches crawling on the walls.
To make matters worse, we didn’t even get the oceanfront room we booked. We were placed in what we later found out was a staff room right next to the front desk. Completely misleading and unacceptable.
We had to check out early and find another hotel, wasting our anniversary. This place is falsely advertised, poorly maintained, and honestly feels like a “rent-by-the-hour” facility.
Avoid at all costs.

I stayed here for 3 days during a work event, location is fantastic, but the rooms are dated, service from the front desk was mediocre, snack and drink options in the lobby were terrible, the coffee house had awful coffee (I would strongly recommend against the coffee house) and the hotel restaurant got every aspect of my order wrong and over charged me.
Oh, and make sure you select the ocean front view in your room if you’re here on vacation. About half the rooms directly face the parking lot and people can look in through the windows as they walk by.
Super frustrating and not worth the money.

So some of the employees were nice but some were really rude and short. When we went into our room the first thing we noticed was it wasn’t clean, the beds were made and fresh towels but on the back of the bathroom door hung a towel from a previous guest it was used and damp then we looked at the soap dishes and they were horrible. I have stayed at many IHG hotels and had great service and clean rooms this is not one of them. The Staff needs a refresher course in Customer Service and the Cleaning Staff needs to be accountable to make this place successful and enjoyable to stay at. By the way the hot water doesn’t work till after 9:00 pm !
