Room was fine on older side but clean. However the restaurant was not accommodating at all. Wanted to place a to go order 45 mins before they closed and was turned away saying they were too busy. Thankfully the beach house restaurant next door was happy to help with a to go order 30 mins before they closed.

We have enjoyed staying at many IHG hotels over the years and looked forward to staying at the Jekyll Island Holiday Inn Resort on our way back to SC from Tampa. However, we were very disappointed.
When we checked in we were assigned to room 110, but the room had an overwhelming smell of mold and mildew, plus the view was of a grassy courtyard, not the ocean view we had requested. We went back to the office and were moved to room 180, which did have a reasonable ocean view, but there was still a noticeable mold/mildew odor. Not as bad as room 110, but quite bothersome to me as an Asthma sufferer.
Both the air conditioner and the shower curtain had noticeable mold odor. This type of hotel air conditioner is prone to mold growing in the condensate pan if the drain doesn’t work properly and they aren’t cleaned regularly. I checked and the grill was black with mold and dirt, and the air filters were very dirty. We cleaned the air filters and grill, and my wife also cleaned the countertop, vanity and tables, finding all were noticeably dirty.
The room was a nice size and well-appointed, but the dirt and odor made it an extreme disappointment.

Older hotel. We had the pet package because we had a dog with us. The room(suite) was very spacious. Fenced balcony on the 2nd floor facing the beach(ocean view). There were big gaps around the front room door. The bed springs were frayed a bit. The mattress and pillows were comfortable. Easy access to the beach. Staff was very nice to interact with. However, my sister and here dog, after we had eaten dinner from Tortugas, which was very good, the dog had gotten very agitated and my sister started feeling very uncomfortable and couldn't get to sleep. We had checked-in around 3:30pm and we checked-out at 10pm, same day. As soon as we headed back home the dog settled down and that uncomfortable feeling left my sister. No idea what caused of the uncomfortable feeling or the agitation of the dog. Kudos for the hotel, though, so far we have only been charged $1.38 for taxes. Our was reservation was for 2 nights. Personally, I would book again by myself.

The room and linens were clean, which is obviously the most important thing to us but there were still issues December 2025):
-Elevator out of service
-Lobby coffee maker out of service
-Ice machine only working in one location of the large hotel
-Wifi wouldn't connect on our tablet and kept freezing on one of our phones
-DirecTV kept freezing every couple of minutes
Also, before booking, be prepared to pay virtually hidden "additional charges" of $32.10 per night for two people:
"Resort Fee - 2 Coffee Vouchers, Island Shuttle, Yoga Mon / Wed, 2 - 1 Hr Biking."
We used none of these "services" (even though the aforementioned coffee machine was out of order, the Northshore Coffee cafe is closed on Mondays and we left early Tuesday morning so the vouchers were worthless).

Large rooms, great views .The property is laid out well landscaping is neet and clean.tgere are outside beds to relax and take in the view. These beds are great for star gazing as the property is dark for wildlife.
The beach is hard sand easy to walk on. Shells were scarce when we were here .
The room. The rooms are dated but they are clean and neet. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable.
The shower well our room it could have exfoliate the skin with its pressure ( not complaining, lol)
They also have free bikes to use and I guess the bike path is popular as I see people on the bike trail.
