It's our first day here, and so far, it's been a horrible experience.
I first booked this hotel months ago since we had orders to pcs and we are waiting for on post housing. I received a call less than 24 hours before check-in that they were closing for renovations and my reservation should not have been made. I was initially offered a room with 1 queen sized bed. Since we are a family of 4, that was not going to work. Luckily, a wonderful woman named Sarah was able to find my family and me a suite at a different hotel until Gavin House re-opened today, January 4, 2025. Well, we got here this morning to move our stuff and the room was still dirty, and the couch cushions didn't even have covers on them. I let the front desk know, and we switched to a different room. Allice, at the front desk was an amazing help. She even made sure I was on the 1st floor since my dog is geriatric and can't handle far walks or especially stairs, if anything were to go wrong with the elevator.
As we started moving our stuff into the new room, my husband and I noticed crumbs of some sort along the bed frames. It looked as if the floors still needed to be done. Since we had nowhere else to go, I just used my own broom and swept it up.
The rooms are smaller than it looked online. And, even though there is a kitchenette, there was only 1 chair in the room to sit down and eat at a table.
I needed ice for my daughter's soup. I went upstairs to the 2nd floor since that's where the ice machine was, and there was no ice in the ice machine.
I noticed some black stuff in the bathroom sink, which was weird because I completely wiped everything down when we got here. It would just keep reappearing.
I cleaned the sink again so my daughter could brush her teeth. As she was finishing up, I noticed water leaking from under the cabinet onto the floor. There was a pool of water under the sink.
Our bathroom door will not lock.
And a roach just strolled past me about a minute ago.
The women at the front desk have been absolutely incredible. They have found any and every which way to help me and my family, and I can't thank them enough.
As for the room itself, it's not one of the better hotels I've stayed at, by far.
