My wife and I decided to keep things close to home for her birthday this year, and the InterContinental Buckhead did not disappoint. One night in and it was clear this was the right call. The location is hard to beat. Buckhead puts you right in the middle of some of Atlanta’s best dining and attractions, so whether you’re stepping out for dinner or just exploring the neighborhood, everything feels accessible and convenient. From check-in, the service set the tone for the whole stay. The team handled our Amex Platinum benefits smoothly with no back-and-forth or hassle. We received our room upgrade and breakfast for two without any problems. The room itself was cozy, well-maintained, and modern with great views of the skyline. What really stood out though were the personal touches. The hotel left a sweet treat in the room ahead of our arrival for my wife’s birthday, and later in the stay, a small box of chocolates was delivered to the room. It’s those little gestures that turn a good stay into a memorable one. Breakfast and the bar were both solid experiences. Attentive service, good energy, quality food options, no complaints. We didn’t make it to the pool or spa this time around, but both are available and look like great amenities worth exploring on a future visit. If you’re looking for a staycation option in Atlanta that feels genuinely special without having to fly anywhere, InterContinental Buckhead delivers.

This place needs 5 stars all the way around. My husband and I stayed here this past weekend for our anniversary. I knew from looking online it was going to be great but it exceeded our expectations. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you're walking into luxury. The service was outstanding the entire time and the pictures online do not do it justice. Our room was superbly clean and beautiful and the amenities are top notch. They have a driver service until 8pm that will drive you to a location within a 2 mile radius (no extra charge) and everyone is so friendly. I highly suggest booking the club lounge room for access to the lounge. The social time between 5pm and 7pm included cocktails and d'oeuvres which were fantastic and breakfast was amazing. On top of getting access all day for snacks and drinks. I really did not want to leave this beautiful place and absolutely plan on coming here again!!!

I stayed at the InterContinental Buckhead for one night (April 12–13) with my family for an 18th-anniversary celebration. This was my first stay with the brand, and while the experience was mostly fantastic and definitely near the top of my list for Atlanta, there are some service "kinks" they need to work out to truly hit that 5-star mark. The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Buckhead, within a 15-minute walk to Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza. A huge perk is the complimentary house car, a black Cadillac Escalade, available for drop-offs within 2.5 miles. The driver was very friendly, though I do wish the service included pick-ups as well. The hotel layout is grand and elegant. The Windsor Garden courtyard is a standout with manicured hedges and lawn games like croquet and mini-basketball. The lobby features stunning floral arrangements and artwork. The heated year-round pool area is beautiful with plenty of greenery and a great vibe. However, we visited at night and found a broken plastic cup in the water and trash left by the hot tub. The lights were off despite the pool being open, which was weird. I also noticed the hot tub felt a bit over-chlorinated. While the hotel had a 2023 renovation, the gym equipment still feels slightly dated compared to the rest of the property, though the views of Peachtree Road are great. The staff was the main area for improvement. At 12:30 PM, the reception area was slammed with only two stations open. Despite having a confirmed 10:30 AM early check-in and upgrade through our travel advisor, our room wasn't ready. They took our numbers to call us when it was available, but we never received a call. When we returned at 5:00 PM, the lobby was still understaffed, zero concierges, an unstaffed bell desk, and only one receptionist. Our luggage hadn't been moved to the room as expected. Everyone we met was polite, but the staffing levels felt thin for a luxury property. The room was the highlight of the stay. For $319, our 488-sqf room (Room 2004) was modern, bright, and felt like true 5-star luxury. Massive TV, exceptionally comfortable beds with a heavy duvet, and soft linens. The Byredo toiletries are high-end, and the water pressure in the separate shower/tub was fantastic. We received a lovely welcome gift of sparkling water and a fresh fruit platter. The $10 daily minibar credit and $15 spa credit are nice touches. Turndown was a bit hit-or-miss. They tidied up but only left two chocolates for four guests and didn't lay out the robes or slippers. Could be better for a 5-star hotel. Breakfast was incredibly good. The French toast is a must-order, and the omelets and specialty juices were very fresh. Unlike the lobby, the restaurant was well-staffed and very attentive. Thanks to our travel advisor, breakfast was complimentary, which was a huge value since it normally runs about $122 for four. Overall, a solid 4/5 stay. The InterContinental offers the best luxury value in the city, even if it feels a tier below other luxury hotels in terms of service polish. If they iron out the staffing and maintenance issues, this would easily be a 5-star experience. I’ll certainly be back!

Update: Wanted to include confirmation received for the days as the hotel says the confirmation didn't sync but I received a 3 day confirmation email. Again, this seems more than a syncing issue if a guest received a confirmation. ⚠️Call if you are going to stay here. Apparently their system is not reliable based on their response. Original Review: I understand that mistakes and system issues happen. That’s not what this review is about. What made this experience so frustrating was how it was handled. I attempted to modify my reservation on March 2 and received a confirmation email showing my stay as April 14–17. Today before my trip, I received a “get ready” email showing only April 15, which immediately raised concern. When I called, the first person repeated, “that’s not what I show on my side,” with no real assistance. After locating my confirmation email and calling back within minutes, the second person confirmed I had attempted the change but said it “did not go through on their side” due to lack of availability. The only option offered was a room at a different hotel, significantly farther away, at my expense. What was missing entirely was any sense of ownership or empathy. No apology. No acknowledgment that receiving a confirmation email should reasonably give a guest confidence that their reservation is secured. No indication that the issue would be escalated or reviewed internally. A simple “I’m really sorry — this shouldn’t have happened” would have gone a long way. Even if the outcome couldn’t be changed, the experience could have been very different. Instead, the interaction felt like they shifted blame to me as the customer when I have a confirmation email and dismissive, which is disappointing for a brand at this level. I ended up booking another nearby hotel at a higher rate for the one night. The issue wasn’t just the system error — it was the lack of care in how it was handled. Poor coaching, poor management and terrible service. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would not stay here again after this trip. Side note, I would suggest calling to confirm any email confirmations from this brand in the future for anyone that chooses to stay here.

We have stayed at the InterContinental Buckhead several times, and unfortunately, the same small but noticeable issues seem to happen during every visit. Despite always booking the room for two people, there is consistently only one bathrobe provided, and at turndown service, only one chocolate is left instead of accommodating both guests. These details may seem minor, but they do take away from the overall experience, especially at a hotel of this caliber. During our most recent stay on April 3, 2026, we arrived around 11:40 PM after a long 9-hour drive from Florida. While my husband handled the luggage, I went to the bar, which is listed as closing at midnight. The bartender informed me that last call had already been at 11:30 PM. I politely explained that we had just checked in after a long drive and asked if we could quickly get two glasses of champagne to take to the room, but the request was denied. After that, I asked if I could at least have two champagne glasses since we had brought a bottle with us, and the bartender was noticeably unwelcoming and seemed reluctant to provide them, which added to the frustration. While I understand policies must be followed, a bit of flexibility or hospitality in that moment would have gone a long way—especially for tired guests arriving late at night. To add to the disappointment, when we got to the room and went to use the ice bucket, we found that it had not been cleaned or refreshed from the previous guest—it still contained melted ice water and the used bag. This was particularly concerning, as cleanliness should be a non-negotiable standard. If the hotel enforces strict policies in certain areas, there should be equally strict attention to cleanliness and guest readiness. Based on repeated experiences like this, we are beginning to feel undervalued as returning guests and may consider exploring other options when staying in Atlanta.
