My fiancé and I stayed the night here when we got engaged and had a wonderful time. Our anniversary is coming up and I booked a room for us hoping we would be able to get a couples massage during our stay. While reaching out to the spaI had a very negative experience with the spa manager, Golda Kai Ferguson. I asked a simple question, but they failed to listen and repeatedly provided incorrect answers, forcing me to clarify myself multiple times just to get basic information. The interaction felt rushed, careless, and dismissive, with no regard for proper customer service. To make matters worse, I was repeatedly referred to as “sir,” despite clearly being female, which was both disrespectful and unprofessional. The overall tone was rude and unfriendly, and this level of service is unacceptable.

Room was clean but rundown considering it’s masquerading as a five star hotel. We stayed in a two queen, high floor, city view. The view was nice and the garage, though expensive, was safe. Reception was a rote script. The room was cheap looking with holes in the bed’s thin duvet and sheets. Scuffs on walls and tear in the headboard gave it a neglected feel. It was more Holiday Inn and less Intercontinental which made it a poor value considering the price point. We only stayed one night and I don’t enjoy moving rooms once unpacked, so we didn’t complain; we’ll just stay elsewhere when returning to Atlanta. I guess it’s adequate if you need to book a conference. Restaurant got lackluster reviews so we didn’t even try it and ate at a nearby restaurant instead. Buckhead is a pleasant area, but we’ll try another hotel in the future.

⭐️⭐️⭐️½ (3.5/5) — InterContinental Buckhead
Check-in & Service
Check-in was decent overall, but one of our two key cards didn’t work for either the elevator or the room, which meant going back downstairs to have it reactivated—an unnecessary annoyance. Parking is also ridiculously expensive.
The valet staff were honestly the highlight of the service experience—friendly and genuinely kind. Other interactions, from the front desk to most restaurant staff, were polite but noticeably cold and lacking warmth or enthusiasm.
Room Layout & Design
I was surprised there were no teas available in the coffee/tea area. Bathrobes and slippers were advertised on the website but weren’t in the room; we had to call to request robes, which ended up being thin, inexpensive-feeling waffle robes.
The feather pillows were comfortable but very soft—may not suit everyone. The bed itself was comfortable, though a plusher duvet would’ve been appreciated during winter for a cozier feel.
Bathroom
Bathroom amenities were Byredo, which is fine. The bathroom was spacious, but the layout could’ve been improved with an additional door separating the toilet/shower from the vanity area. The faucet hardware was finicky and made it annoying to get the water temperature just right.
Spa & Fitness Center
There was no attendant at the spa, and the fitness center is oddly hidden behind spa signage, which can be confusing to find. The gym itself was decent and well-stocked with towels, but sanitary wipes were missing during our first visit.
Housekeeping
Housekeeping was solid—our room was clean, and we really appreciated them tidying our space and folding our clothes after a long day out. Each day they knocked to deliver complimentary ice, chocolate, and water. While thoughtful, it was confusing since we hadn’t ordered anything and didn’t initially realize it was complimentary.
Restaurant & Food
Breakfast was disappointing. Despite having plenty of staff and not many guests, my order was still incorrect. The food felt overpriced for what it was—nothing memorable about the omelet, potatoes, or fruit. The grab-and-go Americano bar menu didn’t list juices or coffee options, which felt like a missed opportunity. On top of that, a 20% automatic gratuity is added to an already overpriced breakfast.. They did ended up returning or crediting it back.
Dinner was better—the service staff were more knowledgeable and gave solid recommendations—but overall, we likely wouldn’t return for dining.
Overall Impression
I was expecting a more boutique, elevated experience and left feeling underwhelmed—especially given how excited we were for our stay. The hotel felt disconnected in several ways, both in service and operations, and lacked the cohesiveness you’d expect from a luxury hotel often labeled as one of the best in Atlanta. Overall, a bit disappointing. Its a great location in buckhead and super centralized but other than that, I wouldn’t consider it next time.

From the moment my family and I walked into the door we were greeted with such class and respect.. PRESTON was at the front desk to greet us and we couldn't feel more welcome and honored to be there.
Being a diamond elite member did give a few extra perks. But with this property, it wouldn't matter who walked in would get the same treatment and respect.
Got our room and it has such a magnificent view and the beds were very Comfortable and the bathroom was very exquisite.
The outdoor pool and hot tub was very quiet and peaceful and relaxing... Water temperature was perfect in both, and Change rooms top notch and clean.
Then we went to the lounge and was greeted by ERIC...
This gentleman even made my kids feel like they were the most important people in the room.. He Set up such a beautiful display with so many delicious options.. Also catered with care to my wife's allergies without us feeling like a burden. And he makes perfect delicious drinks.
Then for breakfast at the lounge there was PRESTON again just giving the same level of exceptional service.. Had my coffee ready. Organized room service when we were out of the room. And then the warm smiles and plesent interactions with KIRSTEN to make sure everything was just perfect.
There is a reason why this property is rated one of the best in the world. And you have to experience it to fully understand the level of elegance, class, attention and respect given from the moment you walk in the door, until you check out..
PRESTON , ERIC and KIRSTEN.
Thank you for everything you all did to make our xmass holidays as beautiful as possible.

Honestly, it was okay. We stayed here 1 night for a “staycation” as part of the American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts package (FHR).
First off, they have a 6’5 foot parking height limit for both the parking garage & valet. We have a 8’ 5” van and have never ran into a situation where a hotel didn’t have at least an overflow or oversized parking area for us. Their solution was to go across the street to the grand Hyatt who wanted to charge $150 for overnight. Needless to say, we parked elsewhere and ubered back to the hotel.
We arrived around 1:00pm to check in and as part of Amex, they’re supposed to let you check in early at 12pm “if available”. They said my room was “almost ready” and “someone from their “executive housekeeping” team had to review our room before it was ready. “ If that’s the truth, then why did it take over 2 hours? Also, the coffee machine in our room had a keurig coffee cup missing from it & USED creamers still inside the coffee area. Ew. Our room had been ready for quite some time as it didn’t smell like cleaner, you could tell that it had been a while and they were just delaying us.
I saw 10+ people check in right before & after us & everyone got to go to their room immediately. We sat in the lobby and waited 2.5 hours as continuous people kept walking by checking in and heading to their room until 3:30, and I finally went back up to the desk for the third time & was told “oh, I was just about to call you.” I think they intentionally delay check in time for Amex guests as I know they have guaranteed late check out of 4pm, and they don’t want the rooms gone that long. We didn’t have a special room— just a standard king room, which I know this hotel has plenty of. It wasn’t a sold out or super busy weekend— they just delayed us on purpose. Unacceptable honestly.
Amex provides “free breakfast” at FHR hotels, but this place charges $36 plus tax, tip and a mandatory 20% gratuity for the buffet— so it came out to almost $100 for breakfast — which is crazy. They only credit $30 per person for breakfast— which is absolutely insane. Even with non-5 star hotels, I get free breakfast buffets, $0– included, no fees or anything. Not here— and the breakfast really was nothing special , typical fare.
Besides the dirty coffee maker, The ice machine on our floor was inoperable, the down button on elevator on our floor was inoperable, they only provided 2 towels (!?!) in our room, one of the outlets (the one on the desk!) didn’t work, the room service ordering did not work neither on their app, website, or TV— I had to call guest services to order. When I called down to order, they called back 30 minutes later stating they were out of the only desert they had on the menu (!!?). The room service was nice, food was great & the person who delivered it was nice and friendly, but it was over $100 for a burger, chicken tenders & a sandwich. 🤷♀️🤷♀️
We spent several hours in the pool & hot tub and it was nice. The pool was heated to 83° and we were able to get in it for fun on a chilly 55° December weekend. The hot tub was nice & warm at 102°. Pool chairs were nice, and plenty of towels were provided at the pool. It is open year round and from 7am - 9pm.
I was disappointed in this hotel for a 5 star hotel & for the price it cost. To me it is more of a 3-star hotel and is worth about half the price it cost. I could deal with the many flukes if it wasn’t so expensive— you want good service when you’re staying at a price like this.
