I recently stayed six nights at Spark in Brandon, Florida. It was my first time at this brand, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel has been fully remodeled inside and out. Everything felt fresh, clean, and neat from the lobby to the guest rooms.
The location is a major plus. It is conveniently located right off the interstate with plenty of shopping and dining options nearby, which made getting around very easy.
The room itself is compact. It includes all the basics you need such as a wardrobe with iron and ironing board, hangers, a TV, refrigerator, and a desk. For someone who travels light and does not need much space, it works perfectly fine. Personally, I found the layout challenging for work. The desk sits directly in front of the air conditioner, so whenever it kicked on, it blew cold air right on me and I had to turn it off to stay comfortable.
The bathroom was the tightest space in the room. You have to open the door, step inside, maneuver around it, and then close it before using the sink, toilet, or shower. It is manageable, but definitely very small.
There is a laundry room and a gym on the second floor, which is a nice amenity. However, there is no signage directing you there, so I had to ask the front desk to find them.
Breakfast is extremely basic. It is continental style with bagels, cream cheese, and simple offerings. There were no hot items or waffles. Additional food options are available for purchase if you want something more substantial.
During my stay, housekeeping was minimal. I arrived on Sunday, and on Tuesday someone came in to empty the trash and restock towels, but the bed was not made and no additional toiletries were replaced. That may have been due to time constraints, but it is worth noting.
Overall, the hotel is very clean and well suited for budget conscious travelers, minimalists, or anyone who does not require much space or a workspace. For my personal needs, I would likely choose a different property next time. However, if you value cleanliness, a convenient location, and do not mind smaller rooms and simple breakfast options, this could be a good fit.
