This review describes my full experience from the first day to the final forced checkout.
DAY 1:
During our stay at Homewood Suites by Hilton Sarasota Lakewood Ranch, we discovered dirty socks and a heavily soiled used towel under the sofa bed in our room. The condition of the towel was extremely unhygienic and clearly indicated that the room had not been properly cleaned.
I immediately went to the front desk to report the issue. Instead of addressing the problem, staff repeatedly asked whether I wanted to stay or leave. I clearly stated multiple times that I wanted to stay. I am a returning guest and have stayed at this hotel several times before, which is why I chose it again.
When I asked what would be done to resolve the situation, I was told that “nothing can be done.” I requested a manager.
The General Manager, Timothy Hall, arrived and repeated the same question: “Do you want to stay or leave?” He stated that “there are many hotels around,” which I perceived as pressure to leave rather than an attempt to resolve a legitimate cleanliness complaint. No room change, no immediate cleaning, and no apology were offered.
DAY 2:
Despite the hostile interaction, we decided to remain at the hotel. We informed the staff that we planned to stay for two additional nights. Management reluctantly allowed us to stay for one night only, offering a 50% discount.
At this point, the issue was no longer about money, but about the attitude and behavior of management toward guests who raised a concern.
DAY 3:
The following day, management explicitly refused to extend our stay and insisted that we leave the hotel. The manager, Tiffany, aggressively and persistently demanded that we check out, despite our willingness to stay and resolve the situation.
As a result, my entire family was forced to leave the hotel against our will. This was humiliating, stressful, and completely unacceptable.
This experience demonstrates retaliatory behavior toward guests who report problems. Being forced out after reporting unsanitary conditions is not how a Hilton-branded hotel should treat its guests.
I am sharing this full experience so future guests understand how complaints are handled at this property.
