Rented a cabin with my family, not our first time at River Ranch, but our first time in a cabin. The cabin was outstanding! The staff at the front desk was awesome. The staff in the establishments were friendly. We had a blast! My only issue was the security team, they pulled us over on a golf cart to check my ID to see if I was 18, I'm 34. So I let my wife drive so there wasn't any confusion. They pulled my wife over and asked for ID to make sure she isn't under 18, she's 33. So, we had my brother drive so there wasn't any further issues, we got pulled over and asked for ID, he's 29. I was puzzled throughout the trip wandering when the next time we'd get pulled over. Each time it was awkward and they were apologetic, but it made us feel like we were doing something wrong. The first night there we came out to 5 security officers surrounding our cars, because our cars were parked in front of the wrong cabin. The cabin we had already had cars taking our spots, and they had us relocate our two cars in front of an unoccupied cabin, which became occupied the next night and became a problem again. I understand the liability of running establishment like River Ranch, but the security team kills the vibe.

We came to Westgate River Ranch for New Year’s and had mixed feelings overall. While there were some challenges during our stay, there were also highlights that made the experience enjoyable in many ways.
From a mom of three kids under six, convenience is very important when traveling, and that was one area where this property fell short for us. Although it is marketed as family-friendly, food options for young children were very limited. There were no nutritious choices for kids, which made meals difficult—especially for our one-year-old. Most options were mac and cheese, chicken fingers, or pizza, so we ended up cooking in our room and purchasing everything ourselves.
The rooms are quite outdated, and our bathroom shower did not work properly. Unfortunately, when concerns were raised, we did not receive follow-up from management, which was disappointing. Wi-Fi was also unreliable, and we had trouble staying connected.
Dining is very limited for a property hosting such a large number of guests. There are only a couple of sit-down dinner options, one of which requires reservations far in advance and is essentially the only decent choice. Breakfast options were also very limited, and with no nearby restaurants, you are reliant on what’s available on-site. The barbecue restaurant, in particular, could use better upkeep.
The Outfitters store is convenient but extremely expensive, especially since there are no nearby alternatives. The air conditioning units in the rooms are also older and blew air directly next to the bed, which was uncomfortable—especially for those with allergies or asthma.
That said, we truly enjoyed the New Year’s Eve activities on 12/31, which were amazing for the whole family. The events were well done, engaging, and memorable. The animals on the property are absolutely beautiful and were one of our favorite parts of the stay. Several employees were also very kind and attentive, which we appreciated.
Overall, while we had a great time enjoying the activities and the unique setting, the outdated accommodations, limited dining options, and lack of responsiveness from management prevent this from being a higher-rated experience. We would give this property three stars, with hope that improvements in food options, maintenance, and guest support could make it truly exceptional in the future.
Do not stay at Westgate River Ranch.
We arrived after check-in time and were forced to wait nearly three hours for our glamping tent—with two exhausted children—while countless other guests were checked in ahead of us. The manager Angela and supervisor Shelby gave vague, unbelievable excuses about housekeeping, and only after I kept pressing did the room suddenly become “ready.” Unsurprisingly, non-minority guests who checked in after us were already settled in their Glamping tents.
Furthermore, key amenities were not available, including wifi, fire pits, and electricity that went out. This completely undermines the experience they advertise.
We were scheduled for a 90-minute ownership tour that was confirmed the same day. We showed up on time. The concierge Jaimie never showed up, never texted, and completely ghosted us. Total lack of professionalism.
Noise was constant—dogs barking nonstop, people screaming even during supposed quiet hours, with zero enforcement.
Customer service was dismissive, reactive, and unreliable. They even refused to send my folio receipt! A token resort-fee refund doesn’t come close to compensating for the time, stress, and repeated failures. We couldn’t wait to leave.
This place is all marketing, no execution and engages in discriminatory practices. Overpriced, disorganized, and disrespectful to guests. Save your money and go literally anywhere else.

On New Year’s Eve 12/31/25 my vehicle was struck by one of Westgates guests renting and driving a golf cart. I want to start out by saying when management “Chris approached myself and my girlfriend the first thing he said to me was “that’s significant damage” in a tone almost implying that the golf cart couldn’t have done the damage that was done to my vehicle. I think his first interaction with myself and my girlfriend as a “security and safety director or manager” should have been asking us if her and I were okay. Secondly he made remark to me saying “well at least it’s wasn’t a new vehicle that was hit and it’s an older car”. I am not sure in this circumstance where that would even matter in a situation like this. I found it to be extremely disrespectful, rude, and unprofessional. As a guest visiting Westgate I felt as if I was being accused of lying or somehow what happened was my fault. I also felt extremely intimidated as if he was trying to make me feel like because Westgate is a privately owned business that with his words “there really is no need to have the police involved” as if I should keep my mouth shut about this incident. Lastly I would like to point out that every single person there at the accident knows the woman driving the golf cart with her 2 children was extremely intoxicated. Including himself (Chris), the police, and the staff members of Westgate that were there. Also when all information was collected and exchanged they allowed the intoxicated woman to drive off in the golf cart with her 2 children as passengers. Which seems extremely dangerous to me seeing as what just transpired. It is extremely concerning to me that an extremely intoxicated lady with 2 children was aloud to operate a golf cart on your property especially on New Year’s Eve. The lack of responsibility taken that night was extremely shocking. With this being said I think Westgates staff and venues are all great. No issues with the workers or our experience leading up this accident. I made a mistake by not pressing this issue further. I should have requested or asked for some type of check to be done to the lady that hit my vehicle to show she was impaired. But unfortunately I did not. Mostly because I felt like I was almost being blamed by Westgate. & they were absolutely trying to do “damage control” ! The manager or safety personnel (Chris) is an absolute joke ! At the end of the day myself a “guest” at Westgate that helps their business is going to get screwed over all because they tried to downplay the entire situation. & of course nothing happens to good ole Westgate. Lesson learned for sure ! Oh and I just want to point out again that (Chris) you are a joke !

If your into swamp buggy rides, air boat or fishing this is the place for you. Or if you like water parks, kids activity parks or rodeos this is also the place for you. It's all full of fun but it's expensive. Here's a little breakdown: water park-$20 child, rodeo-$26 child, $32adult, activity park-$17 child. They do have combined rates per person. You can check out the web site for that.
There is also an open rv park but it's not full hook up for about $120nt. They have tents and teepees too.
The entire place is safe for kids to ride bikes to the different stores (general store, ice cream and pizza store, clothing store and Starbucks) but they are also very expensive. A small candy bought at Walmart for 89 cents cost $3.49 in the general store. A candy bar, the same. Maybe bring your own candy and save the money.
Many people rent golf carts or bring their own. So that's pretty much all you'll see in this park. Not many trucks are driven to the different activity/parks.
One main thing not to get confused with is that there are 2 rv parks. They are not related to each other at all. Which is confusing when your paying for activities. We preferred the River Ranch Rv Park which is located in the back of the West Gate Park, past the water slide and past the airboat rides. They have full hookup and is kept very nice. The Westgate rv is at the entrance of the park and is in an open field with partial hookup (no sewer).
Checking into River Ranch was very confusing. You'll get a phone call the morning of your arrival telling you to go to the little house just past the entrance and someone would give me my papers and take us to our site. But there is no one in that little house. One of the maintenance workers told us to go to the big building with all of the golf carts. But the doors were locked. When somebody finally came to the door they told us that they were closed and just to go to my spot. It was all very confusing and frustrating after the long drive. That is why I am giving this a four-star instead of five. I think they need to get their act together on that part.
Overall we had a fun time but did have to choose between activities as it was so expensive for each one. The three days that we stayed would have cost us close to $1000 not including any of the meals.
