  First, I have to say the front desk staff here was absolutely wonderful. But past that we had some serious issues. First, let me say we always stay at Holiday inn Express when we travel and this one was conveniently located near an air show in Lakeland Florida. As you walk in, the lobby is neat and organized and clean. But after we checked in we started to notice things. First thing is this Holiday inn Express is very old or at least looks that way. There are so many areas that need attention such as paint and baseboards and maintenance and fixture replacement that the whole building really either needs to be torn down and rebuilt or gutted and renovated. I provided pictures to show what I'm talking about to include rusty fixtures in the bathrooms. The next issue we had was when we went to take a shower after being out at the air show all day in the heat and the son, there was little to no hot water. We let it run for some time until it became bearable and got our showers done. My girlfriend noticed in the room as I did that there were several areas that were really dirty, stained, and sticky. That leads me to believe that housekeeping is not doing the job they should be or keeping up with proper cleaning. The next morning we went downstairs before checking out to have their breakfast. My girlfriend and I got a variety of eggs, sausage, little omelets, and potatoes and gravy. It was all cold. The only thing that was not called were the little pancakes that were made in the machine up on the counter. Those came out nice and hot albeit tiny. The gravy that they had out was the consistency of tar. Very unappetizing. Upon checking out we brought all of this to the attention of the staff at the front desk. The gentleman was very polite and seemed very concerned about our complaints. However after listening to all our complaints the only compensation he was willing to give was to add "a lot of reward points" to my girlfriend's account. I'm not even sure what that means or the value of it but it seemed like that was the best they could do. I wasn't expecting them to comp the entire room but I think they should have at least offered some substantial discount for what we went through staying there. No discount was offered and we were charged the full price for the room. Let me just say that there was an air show going on in town and the cost of the room at the end of the stay was over $360 for one night. As I said in the beginning we have always stayed at Holiday inn Express when we travel but this one had to be the absolute worst. If we go back for the air show next year we will definitely not be staying here unless the whole thing has been renovated or rebuilt. I would ask you to turn your attention to the photos we took while we were there and then make your own decision whether you want to stay here or not.

  You know why I picked this hotel, the definition of customer service expert answered the phone, Bri! Absolutely the kindest, amazing person I've ever dealt with. She was informative, did her best to give us the best room. Worth the price, location is awesome, rooms are so clean, smell nice, it's comfortable and doesn't break the bank. And again Bri your the best. Highly recommend this place..
