We stayed here one night to board a cruise the next day and I’m glad it was only one.
I’ll start with the positives. The room itself was fine. The bed was comfortable and we were able to get a good night’s rest. The location is near lots of shops, restaurants, etc. so that’s a plus.
The bathroom was a different story. One of the first things we noticed upon entering the room was that the sink was dirty and there were multiple short, dark and curly hairs in it - which I can only assume to be pubes. So yeah, that was pretty off-putting. We got in late and were tired from travel, so we decided to shower in the morning. There was not a single form of a towel in our room - no hand towel, no bath towels, no washcloths, no bath mat. I have never experienced this in any hotel before (including many other Holiday Inns).
We called housekeeping requesting towels and we were told it would be 20 minutes - which we were fine with. 20 minutes pass and nothing. At 30 minutes, we called back and finally received towels about 40 minutes later. We’re understanding and patient people, but by that point it was nearing checkout time so we were scrambling a little to hurry up and both shower so we could be out as soon as possible.
The cherry on top was finding more mysterious dark curly hairs in the shower :)

I’ve had a wonderful stay here. The rooms are clean, comfortable and very well maintained the entire staff has been exceptionally kind, professional, and informative throughout my visit.
Jay, the general manager clearly runs a fantastic team - everything operates smoothly and you can feel the positive atmosphere. I truly appreciate the hospitality and would absolutely stay here again.

Hello,
I recently stayed at your Holiday Inn Alafaya location while in town with my partner for a bowling tournament. Overall, my stay was fine and I did not have any major complaints about the hotel itself.
However, I did want to provide some feedback regarding the service at the front desk. One of the associates I interacted with earlier in the day seemed very disengaged and unprofessional. He appeared more focused on his phone than on assisting guests. I asked him about having my room cleaned, but it did not seem to be a priority to him, and my room was never serviced as requested.
Later that evening, after returning from my tournament, I had a completely different experience with another front desk employee. He was a larger black gentleman whose name I believe started with a “J” (possibly John or Joanna). He was extremely attentive, compassionate, and genuinely listened to my concerns. He went out of his way to make me feel welcome and even offered me snacks and a drink to improve my experience. His professionalism and kindness made a big difference, and I truly appreciated his effort. I was so grateful that I went out of my way to bring him a pizza as a thank-you.
I wanted to share this because employees like him are what make guests feel valued and willing to return. Unfortunately, the earlier interaction with the other associate left a poor impression and made me hesitant about staying again.
Thank you for taking the time to review my feedback. I hope you continue to have more staff members like the gentleman who assisted me that evening.

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to formally express my deep disappointment regarding my stay from December 28th to December 29th at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Orlando East-UCF Area, located at 12250 East Colonial Drive, Orlando, FL 32826—an experience that was both distressing and far below the standards I have come to associate with your brand.
Upon arriving at the hotel in the early morning to check in, we were informed by the front desk employee that the property did not have hot water. We were advised that, due to this serious and unacceptable inconvenience, the company would reimburse 50% of the cost of the stay. Because my reservation was made using points accumulated through years of business travel, I specifically asked whether half of those points would be returned to my account. I was clearly assured that this adjustment would be reflected within 72 hours. Unfortunately, that commitment was never fulfilled.
The absence of such a basic and essential service made our stay impossible, forcing us to leave the property and secure accommodations at another hotel. This situation caused unnecessary stress, disruption, and additional expense during what should have been a straightforward overnight stay.
If a hotel is unable to provide its full range of essential services—especially something as fundamental as hot water—guests should be informed prior to arrival. This would allow customers the opportunity to make an informed decision to cancel without penalty and seek alternative accommodations, rather than being placed in an untenable situation upon arrival.
To further compound this experience, I attempted to contact the company directly through the IHG app and, to this day, have received no response. The lack of acknowledgment or follow-up has only intensified my disappointment.
This situation is particularly disheartening because it is the first time I have encountered such an issue with your brand. I have long considered IHG properties to be a reliable and professional choice for business travel. Experiencing this level of service—and the silence that followed—has been genuinely saddening and has shaken that trust.
I hope this matter can still be reviewed and resolved appropriately, and that the promised refund of points will be honored. I would like to believe that this experience does not reflect the true standards of your organization.
Sincerely,
Juan

Atentamente,
Juan
