I had some good and bad staying at this hotel. First was when we checked in and went to our room around 8pm we smelled smoke on the third floor we were in room 342. The second thing was once we got in the room it smelled like mildew. Thirs was we went downstairs to the restaurant and there were four people in the restaurant and two at the bar they sat us and it took nearly 20 minutes till the waiter came to take our order and the food is not worth it. Also the beds vaerly could fit one person let alone a couple. The better part about the resort is your not far from transportation to Universal Studios and all that they have to offer i want to thank the front desk staff for sharing that information. Overall I would give three stars and no more.

Wow, I have grew up traveling at least a full week to three a month. 47yrs. Best western had its time and rarely heard of any not good now. THIS BEST WESTERN IS CHANGING IT! It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The restaurant and lounge are classy, the entrance is beautiful, location is everything, room was comfortable with all amenities plus some. It was clean and the view was priceless. Luciana at the front desk was such a pleasure, fast and focused on us. She went above to get best view and price.
Literally the ONLY thing I could complain if I was a nick picken gal would be the shower won't go completely off if someone wants to take a bubble bath or salts bath. It keeps spraying lightly. Nothing 5mins and the right tools won't fix. Definitely not something to complain about!

Stay at the Best Western Orlando Gateway Three-night stay at the Best Western Gateway for a visit to Universal Studios. The staff was very courteous and friendly. Upon arrival, Luciana greeted us; she was very kind, welcoming, and professional. The hotel is well located. Restaurants are within walking distance on International Dr. (Applebee's, steakhouse, and others). Shuttle to Universal at set times. Two pick-up times, in the morning and in the evening (8:40 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. / 5:00 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.). The room was very clean, with laminate flooring. The bathroom was adequate but clean. The room door wasn't soundproofed, and there was no threshold, so you could hear everything from the hallway. The hallways need some attention, especially the carpets, which could use refreshing. We didn't use the pool. In summary, we enjoyed our stay at the BW for our needs. I recommend it for the price and its location.

We confirmed with the front desk upon check in that we can pick up the park tickets we paid for with the hotel package, in the morning at the planning center. Since we check in after 5pm. Morning comes and we go to planning center only to be told we can't get our tickets there and we have to go to the gate. Me staying at multiple Universal resorts and being a travel advisor I've never heard this before. Even in our email it says to go to the planning center at our hotel. Instead of continuing to argue with her I went next door to another Universal resort in which they printed the tickets out with no problem. Tub didnt drain and maintenance has to come fix it the 1st night. Room floors and towels dirty. AC is very loud. The room we were giving was a connecting room with neighbors that kept hitting the door.
Gums was on a picture in the room.

I wanted to take a moment to share feedback regarding my recent stay at the Best Western Universal Orlando.
To begin on a positive note, I want to commend the morning café staff for their outstanding customer service. They were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond by opening early to ensure guests had breakfast options. Their professionalism and genuine care truly stood out — they are an excellent reflection of hospitality and service. In fact, the front desk could take a few lessons from their example.
Unfortunately, the rest of my experience was extremely disappointing. The front desk staff, particularly Luciana, was dismissive and rude when I brought up multiple concerns — including the unpleasant temperature and odor in our room, the inconsistent key access that caused us to be late for dinner reservations, and the discontinuation of happy hour that was never communicated beforehand. Each issue was met with indifference rather than a willingness to help, leaving the impression that guest satisfaction is not a priority at this location.
Additionally, the lack of pool attendants, poor room maintenance, and overall lack of accountability from staff contributed to what has been, unfortunately, the most negative hotel experience I’ve had. I would strongly caution future guests to reconsider booking at this property, as the quality of service does not align with the Best Western brand reputation.
While I deeply appreciate the café team’s kindness and professionalism, my overall stay was tarnished by the poor service and dismissive attitude at the front desk.
