This Holiday Inn Express on 131st Ave is hands-down one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I understand they are under renovation, and we genuinely tried to give them grace—but renovation does not excuse incompetence, broken essentials, or outright apathy from staff. Right from arrival, things went downhill. We asked for a luggage cart because there were none in the lobby. The front desk agent casually told us they “only have two” and that guests probably left them somewhere in the hallways. No attempt to locate one. No help offered. The elevator was absolutely terrifying. It made a loud, grinding, mechanical noise that got worse the longer it ran. We were on the 5th floor, and of course, only ONE elevator was working. You could hear this thing from five rooms away—it sounded like it was on its last breath. We were told the pool was heated. It was not. Not even close. The room itself was mediocre at best and unacceptable in reality: •    An ancient, first-generation microwave that barely worked •    Power outlets that didn’t function properly •    No hot water in the bathroom sink •    Sink and bathtub that drained poorly (the tub fully backed up) •    The room phone didn’t work at all Every single one of these issues was reported to the front desk and to maintenance. Nothing was fixed. No one followed up. No one seemed to care. To make matters worse, we ran out of toilet paper. When we asked housekeeping for more, they handed us a box of Kleenex instead. That alone should tell you the level of dysfunction happening here. The first night was a nightmare. Other guests were partying loudly and being extremely disruptive well past 3:30 AM. Since the room phone didn’t work, we had to look up the hotel’s phone number and call the front desk from our personal cell phone to ask them to intervene. The noise continued for hours. When we asked for a room change, we were told no because the hotel was “booked to capacity.” The final straw came Saturday morning. We attempted to leave at 6:00 AM—only to discover the elevator was now completely broken. The front desk attendant’s response was essentially, “Too bad.” We were told to carry all of our luggage down five flights of stairs. When I asked for help getting back into the exterior stairwell, he incorrectly told me I didn’t need a key (I did). When I asked him to unlock it so I could assist my husband, he moved at the slowest, most indifferent pace imaginable. No apology. No offer to help. No acknowledgment of the inconvenience whatsoever. This hotel is unsafe, poorly maintained, and staffed by people who clearly do not care. Renovation or not, this place should not be operating under the Holiday Inn Express name. If I could give negative stars, this would be a solid -5. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

Sadly is the first time I have such a bad experience in a Holiday inn hotel. As soon as we arrived both key rooms didn’t worked. Had to be reprogrammed every time we left the room. They didn’t do cleaning rooms on 2 out of 3 nights and the only response is “we will inform the the concerned department, there is no one to make your young at night, we will compensate with 500 points” ( which is nothing! And I’m not looking for points, I’m looking for service) And the cherry on the cake, our room was assigned to another guest, they came and open the room !!! Fortunately we were still awake and dressed 🥴 That is something really annoying and at certain point dangerous. What if you are naked or just sleeping and someone suddenly enters to your room??? Not nice at all!! There are two elevator but only one is working, is super slow and service maintenance staff use it at the same time with guest, it it’s super slow and makes weird sounds during approaching to the 5th floor, like if something will be broken. Very strange situation. In resume, very bad experience on this hotel, they do not deserve a good qualification at all, sorry y but it’s the truth.

You book with them and they do not notify you thT the place is under construction. Then, you noticed that there is only one elevator working and its certificate is expired, as shown in the picture. You get back and you wanna go to your fifth floor room, they tell you that you have to use the stairs while you are carrying luggage and an eighteen months old baby! You wake up in the morning to try their breakfast which you have to wait in line for the elevator because there was only one that was working. Then, you go to breakfast to realize that even omelets wear frozen and microwaved, and served where they are still cold in the middle! The AC in the room was making humming and weird noises from time to time waking up the baby. The only good thing we noticed was room service staff were nice, room was clean and that's about it.

Third visit here and third time bad again. The hotel is undergoing renovation, that's fine, I respect that. But what I can't ignore is that for the second time the microwave in the room doesn't work. For the second time there are no clean towels in the room. For the third time there is no power outlet next to the bed. Never again.
