We had a great experience with a HIX in Phoenix and thus were open to the brand. Pros: great location, 1 front desk staff was helpful, quiet, comfy bed, great pool deck for catching sun, room was unusually spacious, and it worked. Appeared clean but I didn’t look to close (perhaps consistent with the broader Miami area 😉) Cons: hotel appears to have undergone a budget and partial remodel, and it’s wearing thin. Shower was awful; hard to get hot water, low pressure erratic stream. Sink was the same. More of a motel feel in quality of furnishings and appearance.

I had a terrible experience, I had bug bites all over my legs, roaches on the furnitures, and other bugs on my bed and the bathroom, toilet bowl unable to flush, tv not working, notified front desk, they sent a repair man to fix the toilet which was not fixed, kept running all night.Monday morning, I shared the pictures and videos with the manager and said that he was sorry and only refunded 2 nights out of 3. And on top of it, I had a shoulder replacement not long ago and other medical issues. I was very disappointed and I will recommend this location to anyone else.

No comp or even an apology from staff. No other availability near me as my flight was cancelled. Had to book another room unfortunately.. literally a roach motel. Don’t stay here
