We stayed here on December 6 on our way to a cruise the next day. Upon arrival room appeared clean. However, later that evening after taking showers and getting ready for bed, a roach crawled across the bed. We killed it and went to flush down toilet and when turned on bathroom lights, five more roaches were crawling on shower and floor. Needless to say we didn't sleep at all wondering if there were more, would they get in our luggage etc. When checking out and told front desk, response was oh well sorry. Do not stay here, I know we won't

This was originally a 3 night stay that ended up only being 1 night. After checking out the next day, staff would not print out a receipt and stated it would be emailed. I have yet to receive the email and the app shows the reservation is still active.
The only nice thing about this place is that it is directly off the I-75. However, don’t get a room in the front or you will hear every vehicle that goes by on the interstate.
Mattresses are extra firm. Great if that is your thing. The pillows are like hard balloons. They do not conform and do not go down.
It’s hit and miss with the staff. The guy hired to shampoo the carpets ended up being nicer than most of the staff.

So since my stay 01 Dec 2025, I’ve been added to the “Do not rent list” closing all options for me to book a room as a VA patient in Lake City FL. So please be warned if you use this location & complain about your stay, you will be retaliated against & not allowed to rent any longer. This is such a shame that a business would react this way to a simple misunderstanding.

I just wanted to share my experience as a hotel guest here. We checked in @1505 on 01 Dec 2025 via Hoptel w/ the VA. As we checked in we were greeted with a kind welcome from the front desk clerk & then checked in. All was well until the next morning. I walked down to the front desk & asked for a late checkout, the front desk lady at the time Tiana said “Let me ask my manager”. Right after, the GM Sabrina Redish abruptly stepped in and said “VA patients must check out by their appt time or face $100 fee”. To which I replied “I’ve been coming here for the past 5 years & never been told I had to follow these guidelines”. My appointment was at 0800 & here I am confronted with this @0745 w/ my wife still in bed asleep & all of our belongings scattered about. I tried to explain this to the GM that I was never given this information upon check in & she stated all her staff have been trained to brief this info to all VA patients at check-in, which was never stated to us. I did do a follow up with the VA patient advocate to ensure this gets elevated. I felt embarrassed & ridiculed by the GM over this issue. This isn’t the way anyone should be treated as a customer. I highly recommend some customer service retraining for the GM Sebrina Redish. For other VA patients coming to this hotel, please take note of this policy, as they are strictly enforcing it, before planning your trip.

Unfortunately, I am having to write this review after just 2 nights at this hotel. The “Best Western Plus” hotel turned out to not be the best. We have had so many inconveniences that I am ultimately disappointed. On our first night we found a roach in the restroom. We saw a worker smoking outside and when she passed by us, she had a pungent Marijuana smell. We have not had the housekeepers come do our room at all. Today we asked the housekeeper to put new towels and to empty out the trash can after we saw her in the hall. She reeked of marijuana. When we got back to the hotel, we found the very unpleasant surprise that our bedroom door was open and unlocked. We had left our room door locked. We were very upset because anyone could have walked in and stolen something. I am very disappointed with the experience I have had at this hotel. I want the cameras to be pulled and I expect answers by tomorrow of who opened our room door. On top of all this, the manager didn’t want to assume responsibility, she didn’t even want to come to the hotel to address the situation. We finally got the manager to come and she didn’t even want to pull up the cameras to show us who left our bedroom door open. On top of this, she had a very unprofessional appearance and she was very aggressive and disrespectful. The only good thing out of this whole experience were the ladies at the front desk, they were super nice and helpful. Unfortunately, we didn’t even get any compensation for any of this. Overall, everything that had happened is very upsetting and I am extremely disappointed with the quality of this hotel. Attached are some images of the roach:
