We are DVC owners and were so excited to finally stay at the Grand Floridian. For the number of points/ cost per night we will not stay again. We had a 2 bed/ 2 bath. The beds were not comfortable. Very firm. We had to order 2 extra pillows and 2 blankets and housekeeping showed up with 4 blankets and when I asked for the pillows I was given attitude and told I did not order 2 pillows. We absolutely did order them. She then shoved the blankets at me to take all of them. I assumed she probably had a very bad day up to this point so did not engage to make her day worse. She returned with the pillows and instead of a gentle door knock using the key, she pounded on the door (kids were sleeping) again shoved the pillows towards me and left. I thank her as she walked off. My sister who was staying with us needed a room key, so when we asked the cast members in the foyer of the DVC building an older woman said in a condescending tone "are you actually staying here?" looking at my sister as if she was appalled. At this point I thought no way is this for real. We've been lucky enough to have stayed at almost all of the DVC and regular Disney hotels and never have we ever run into this. The only real benefit to this resort is the proximity to the Magic Kingdom. I'd stay at Bay Lake and Polynesian again over the GF. The DVC building is removed from the main resort. Would be nice for that cost to at least have a coffee shop setup with snacks similar to the Joffrey's coffee shop at the Contemporary. We can check it off out box and just know not to stay again.

Our most recent visit was focused on our growing immediate family. We visited the park one day, but spent the majority of the time exploring the resorts and hanging out the pool. The Grand Floridian is one of our favorites. Location, class and a wide range of food options within a short distance. Transportation is key, and being so close to monorail and boat is very convenient. The level of service is top notch. We do wish there was a better coffee option - something quick and convenient (similar to Rivera). The lack of hot tubs surprises me for such a luxury hotel, plus their were loaded with young kids playing and diving - not ideal. Overall would stay at the hotel again, but wish the two things would be addressed in the future.

The 2 bedroom suite in the corner overlooking the lagoon was not the preferred I had hoped for . We stated 3 weeks earlier in the resort view which o requested even if paying the preferred rate . I know not much was available, but the balcony was awkward as it was looking directly at the other wing .

The location of the Grand Floridian was absolutely perfect, and the resort itself is undeniably beautiful and grand. Disney has always been a special place for my family, and I’ve been visiting every year since I was a child. Now I bring my own children to create those same memories, which is why this experience was so disappointing. While the hotel is stunning, I have stayed at other Disney resorts and experienced much friendlier, warmer, and more welcoming staff there than I did at the Grand Floridian. As an African American woman, I am unfortunately not unfamiliar with being profiled, but I never expected to feel that way as a paying guest at Disney. One of the most upsetting moments happened in the gift shop downstairs where the Grand Floridian Mickey ears are sold. I was followed by two employees while shopping. I still purchased the ears because I wanted them and could absolutely afford them, but the experience left me feeling uncomfortable, judged, and unwelcome. I also purchased the Disney Dining Plan for my family, so to experience additional moments that felt targeted was very disheartening. My 60-year-old aunt shared that when she went to refill her resort mug at the quick service location on property, a worker asked her if she had paid for her cup. Of course it had already been paid for. She also said that when she later returned to purchase food, the cashier behaved as if she was hesitant or afraid to touch her money when taking payment. To make matters worse, when we dined at Crystal Palace, which has always been one of our family favorites because of Pooh and Friends, we had another negative interaction. In the restroom, the janitor was extremely rude. My baby and I reached for a napkin from the dispenser closest to us, and she sharply shouted, “You don’t see the other one?” even though someone else was actively using that one. These may seem like small incidents individually, but together they created a pattern that made my family feel unwelcome during what should have been a magical and joyful stay. That is not the Disney experience I know, love, and have supported for years. I’m truly saddened to say that after this experience, I have no desire to stay at the Grand Floridian again.
