Regretfully, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is not what I remember from past visits. Major disappointment with no attempt at service recovery. This place needs new leadership and a fumigator. First, our room was not ready at check-in time. After a busy day in the parks, not cool. Then when we were told the room was ready, we could not use the Disney app to unlock the door as we have done many other times. Staff pointed to poor Wi-fi as the culprit & said it happens all the time. Second, we expected daily maid service as advertised at this Disney deluxe hotel, no maid service 2 days in a row despite opportunity to do so until 3 pm 2 days in a row. Third, why have a fireworks view room when they refuse to enforce the no smoking policy? I have a reactive airway & was not amused to have a chain smoking neighbor on the next balcony!! Staff basically told us to call back for recurrence…too late, already wheezing & coughing!! Also, if you want a cold shower, you are in luck! Not enough hot water to service this hotel in the morning. For $500 a night, get the boiler optimized!! If you want a hot shower, be in yours before 7 A.M. Lastly, always killing some form of tiny ant in the room. It’s Florida…I get it, but not seen these bugs at other hotels…so annoyed! (No bed bugs, we checked) Also leaving sick with the latest Orlando respiratory virus. Who knows if they even clean the rooms between guests?! I’m starting to have doubts! Thanks Wilderness Lodge! We won’t be back!

Higher end Disney experience location. Fun to explore and close to Disney theme parks. They even have several cabins if you have a larger family or want to be away from the main lodge.

Been going to Disney World since 1980 and have stayed at a lot of the resorts, including the campground, Polynesian, Port Orleans (Riverside & French Quarter), Pop Century, All Stars Music, Boardwalk, and Wilderness Lodge. As much as we want to try new resorts, we just can’t…we end up hanging out at the Lodge. It’s hard to describe, but for us, it feels like home. It’s not the fanciest, or closest, but it’s like that super comfortable pair of jeans that you keep coming back to even though you have a nice new pair.

The location is wonderful, a quick boat ride to magic kingdom. I have stayed at the Poly, and to compare, the waterfront restaurant at the Wilderness has a better view of the water, a real missed opportunity for the poly. However, the room was worn. The drawers and cabinets in my room were broken. I woke in the morning to take a shower and had to wait 20 minutes for luke warm water. While I can understand this could happen, it certainly spoils the idea of a "deluxe" resort. The pool is nice, the water slide is small but a nice addition. The food here was just okay, the grade of Chili's but twice the price. Don't bother with cocktails, they are just juice, instead stick to wine or beer. Overall this resort is nice, but doesn't live up to the deluxe experience it advertises. The staff here were great, very friendly and upbeat. Still a good place to stay, but realize the rooms will be more worn than a holiday inn. Disney really ought to stay on top of maintenance. I was given a "premier" room, my balcony looked at a wall of bushes. The expensive view is apparently not for those premier rooms.

Our recent stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was heartbreaking. For families like ours who save for years to create a once-in-a-lifetime Disney trip, please read this before you book. We paid over $8,000 USD for the room alone, plus thousands more for dining, tickets, and Lightning Lanes. We expected peace, comfort, and the Deluxe service Disney advertises. What we got was stress, dishonesty, and sleepless nights. Disney says “Welcome Home” when you arrive.., but once something goes wrong, you quickly learn you’re just a number. They don’t care. Wrong Room & Poor Treatment At check-in we were placed in the wrong villa and told it was “a new design.” Only after pushing back did they admit the mistake. We had to unpack, repack, and move everything after settling in. Hours lost, excitement gone. When we asked for help, the response was defensive, as if expecting the correct room was unreasonable. Dining Failures Storybook Dining ran over an hour late with two tired kids. The “VIP” Fireworks Dessert Party was overcrowded and nothing like advertised. Even basic dining closed early. We paid for convenience and were left searching. Pool & Amenities., False Advertising Disney’s site claimed “all amenities will remain available during refurbishments.” That was false. The main pool slide was closed all week for sanding and painting. Families sat through paint fumes and dust while staff acted like it was no big deal. Overnight Construction – Inexcusable Several nights between 12:30–2:00 a.m., we were kept awake by concrete saws and truck noise outside our villa. Security confirmed multiple complaints, but it continued. Managers apologized and even offered a three-night stay for the disruption.. then the noise started again. No family paying Deluxe prices should experience this. Lightning Lane & Park Issues Rides broke down, scanners failed, and shows were canceled. We spent hundreds more for “stress-free access” that turned into wasted hours and frustration. Disney’s Response – “Nothing More We Can Do” We sent photos, videos, receipts, and detailed notes. Disney escalated it to their Executive Correspondence Team, who refused to communicate in writing — only by phone, avoiding any record. When we finally spoke with Yolanda from that team, she said there was “nothing more they could do.” That was the moment the magic disappeared. We weren’t just disappointed — we were lied to, ignored, and dismissed. Disney’s slogan and promises mean nothing when their actions show zero accountability. Families like ours aren’t asking for perfection, just honesty and care. Instead, we were treated like an inconvenience. What Disney promises: Deluxe comfort, care, and magic. What we got: lies, noise, indifference, and exhaustion. This review isn’t only for us.., it’s for every family who dreams of giving their kids the perfect Disney trip. The resort looks beautiful, but behind the marketing and smiles is a company that’s lost its heart. Disney, please remember: for you it’s one of thousands of reservations.. for families like ours, it was our once-in-a-lifetime vacation, and you broke it.
