This was the worst hotel experience our family has ever had.
We paid a premium to stay at Disney’s Polynesian expecting top-tier service and cleanliness. Instead, our vacation turned into a nightmare.
On day one, Bell Services lost our rented strollers, causing us to miss Early Entry. Later that same day, we were subjected to an aggressive and humiliating security encounter that involved forcing us to unpack both of our small children, including our baby.
The next morning, we woke up to a severe ant infestation. Ants were on my three-year-old son’s pillow and bed, all over the floor, and in the bathroom. This was a clear health and safety issue.
I began calling Guest Services and called repeatedly over nearly two hours. No manager returned my calls. No housekeeping or pest control came.
When we returned around 1:00 p.m. — more than seven hours later — nothing had been done. We had nowhere safe for our kids to rest. We spent hours sitting in the lobby begging for help while being told it was “being handled.”
A senior leader later promised follow-up. No one ever contacted us.
Disney markets itself on family care, safety, and service. Our experience reflected none of those.
What should have been a special family trip was replaced with stress, lost time, and concerns about our children’s safety. We were left to manage a sanitation issue involving our child’s bed entirely on our own.
This review is here because internal channels failed. Families deserve to know.

Generally, the hotel is in a spectacular location - especially if you’re a fan of magic kingdom. Fireworks from the beach can’t be beat. Staff is really kind and helpful.
The rooms are extremely worn in and outdated in most areas. For the price tag, absolutely not worth it.
Transparently we also had a somewhat traumatic experience when the hotel “pixie dusted us” with some candies. This was so kind of the hotel to do - another 5 star staff moment - but I have to imagine the staff is very clear on the allergic reactions caused by these, given what I eventually read online after the wildest exorcist level of illness caused by these sugar free “Goofy gummies.” New lesson as a parent, no question!! Avoid at all costs! These are in the parks too
Overall enjoyable stay but a first and last for us.
Great location. Nice staff. However, the room had an ant problem. I called in and had the room treated. It didn’t work because I continued finding them days after that. The TV kept blacking out. It was so intrusive, we couldn’t watch new shows/movies since it was as if missing half the show. It was really irritating when trying to watch the football games. We called in but it wasn’t fixable. We’ve stayed at The Floridian and Port Orleans Riverside: never had that problem. The shower had a hand held sprayer and an overhead shower. When switching to the hand held, the overhead would not switch over completely and continued to pour out. Room service barely changed out the towels, cleaning the floor at least once in a week stay just didn’t happen even upon request. The housekeeping carts are left lining the hallways. They don’t offer room service. After a long day at the park, room service would have been greatly appreciated. Even at an extra cost, it would have been worth it. Lastly, we were put in a 2nd floor room. What I didn’t realize is that the 2nd floors don’t have balconies. They only have a door that slides open. The whole purpose for me reserving a water view room was to enjoy the water view by being out on the balcony. I didn’t realize this until after we had unpacked and I didn’t want to repack just to unpack again. For me, as beautiful as the report is in the lobby, and as much as I loved having the pineapple lanai, and the monorail, this felt like an motel. It did not feel like a deluxe resort. After spending years wanting to stay at this resort, and spending thousands of dollars to stay here, the disappointment of this first stay will definitely be our last stay. I did make the front desk/customer service aware on Day 2 and Day 3 of our stay. After that, I reiterated upon check out. I received an apology which I appreciated, but it did not make up for the lack of service.
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a truly exceptional Disney experience. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is immersive, relaxing, and impeccably themed. The resort feels like a tropical escape while still offering all the convenience and magic Disney is known for.
The service is outstanding—cast members are friendly, attentive, and consistently go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. The grounds are beautiful, transportation options are seamless, and the dining options are excellent. Watching the fireworks from the resort is an unforgettable bonus.
This resort perfectly balances luxury, comfort, and Disney magic. Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their Disney stay.

Disney's Polynesian Village is a beautiful resort that truly captures the **island vibe**. The grounds are stunning, filled with lush flowers, tiki torches, and calming water features everywhere you look. To make it even better, the **staff went above and beyond** to ensure we had a great stay. A special shout-out to **Nova** in the shop downstairs, who was so very nice and kind!
**The Room (Tuvalu House):**
We stayed in the **Tuvalu house** on the 3rd floor, which sits right on the water. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful. The rooms were spacious, clean, and updated, featuring two queen beds and a pull-out daybed. Having a resort-view balcony was worth it. We were able to sit outside every night and watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks and the water show.
**Transportation & Logistics:**
Monorail access is on the 2nd floor of the main building, just two stops from Magic Kingdom (note: you must go through metal detectors before boarding). At park closing, the monorails get very packed because non-resort guests use them to reach the Transportation Center. We highly recommend taking the **boats** back to the resort at night to avoid those crowds.
**Dining & Amenities:**
* **Dining:** We enjoyed breakfast and lunch at Capt. Cook's and Kona to-go for snacks. For dinner, we ate at the **Island Tower restaurant**. We loved that the Tower has a separate area from the main part of the resort, making it much quieter and more intimate.
* **Pools:** The pool area is beautiful with multiple slides and plenty of space for everyone.
* **Shops:** The markets and shops were nice, though they had a somewhat limited selection of MagicBands.
The only downside is the crowds. Because it is a top dining destination and right on the monorail, the resort gets very busy with non-guests. While the pools remain private (a huge plus), the common areas can feel congested. For the premium price guests pay per night, I wish Disney would find a way to provide more exclusivity for the guests actually staying on property.
