The room decor was fun, fit the theme, and everything we expect from Disney, as it relates to design. The two pull down beds for our kids were perfect and a smart solution for those that need the sleeping space, but they could be put out of the way for those that do not. Unfortunately, our room was not up to the standards we expect from Disney, due to a horribly strong mildew/mold smell when you enter the room. Even our 3 year old complained. It was very potent and made us feel like we didn’t want to be sleeping in a room where we were breathing in who knows what. We called the front desk right away, and we were told that there were no rooms of our same type available for our check in night. They did offer to move us to a new room the following day, but this would have required us to pack up and check out the next morning, store our luggage, and they’d have our luggage in the new room the next day. I appreciate that they offered a partial solution, but nobody with three kids wants to unpack and repack twice for a three night stay. We suffered through the smell each time we entered the room, and our family of five was congested and stuffy every morning when we woke up. Our congestion would resolve a couple of hours after leaving the room, and nobody had issues at our next hotel, so we are confident it was the room air. Of note, we were on the bottom floor, and guest services acknowledge this is a common complaint. Disney is known for having high standards and prices aren’t cheep, so they need to do better. It’s unacceptable that they continue to rent these stinky rooms that clearly have some sort of a mildew/mold problem. We’ve stayed at the Disneyland Hotel four times, and it has always been one of our best hotel experiences, so it was extremely disappointing to have this stay at the Boardwalk Villas through DVC at Disneyland be one of our least enjoyable hotel experiences. We also question whether these stinky first floor rooms are ever truly given to a DVC member, or are just given to people who rent a member’s points for a stay. What we do know is that we will never consider DVC membership if this is what you get. The room gets a one star, because there is no acceptable reason for Disney to have mildew/mold smelling rooms. Service gets a three star, because although a partial solution was offered, they should have found us any room available that night or compensated us. Location was ideal, so five stars there.

WE HAD A HARD TIME WITH THE DINING ACCOMODATIONS. THERE ARE NONE IN THE HOTEL. MOST RESORTS HAVE A RESTAURANT IN THE HOTEL THAT SERVES BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER. YOU HAVE TO LEAVE TO HOTEL TO GET ANY FOOD. THE OPTIONS ARE NOT GREAT. IT WAS RAINING AND WE COULD NOT WALK TO OUR RESERVATION ON THE BOARDWALK AND MISSED THE RESERVATION. WE WOULD NOT STAY AGAIN IN A HOTEL THAT IS NOT FULL SERVICE. YOU REALLY SHOULD ADD RESTAURANTS IN THE HOTEL.....NOT JUST ON THE BOARDWALK SO THAT BEFORE OR AFTER GOING TO THE PARKS YOU CAN JUST GO AND EAT AT YOUR HOTEL. THE OTHER TWO NIGHTS WE HAD TO GO OUT OF DISNEY AND BRING IN MEALS.

We stayed at the Boardwalk, the people were great, but the problem was, they were doing sewer work outside our patio and we could not sit out there with the smell and could not leave patio doors open for fresh air at night. The Hot tub on main pool, was cold and the jets were not working. I told the staff and they sat its been that way and will be repair in July. These features we were waiting to use and they were not working properly. People plan on these features and pay for the use of them, and you find out they been down and no repairs plain for a couple of months. What are the customers who are planning to come there and use these and find out you don't care they are working or not. Your there and they have your money.
This was my first stay at Boardwalk. Staff was great from the time I pulled up the first day until I left a week later.
We were in a 1 Bedroom Villa on the DVC side. It was a very nice room. The full kitchen was a bonus since there is no Quick Service breakfast nearby. The king bed was comfortable and the Murphy bed was surprisingly comfortable. Housekeeping came in every day (did not expect that). Two negatives are the lack of comfortable seating inside and on the balcony and the fact that the floor was not level.
Location was great, it was easy to walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios (and of course, the boat was another option). We overlooked the smaller pool and seldom heard noise from the pool. We also overlooked the waterway and could see the boats coming and going.
We ended up not using the hot tubs as planned because they are both extremely small and were usually filled with children. Children should not be allowed in them. I hope that there are plans to install larger hot tubs and limit the children from using them.

While our room was very nice and clean, everyday, there was something not right in our room. When we went to take a shower the night we got there, I could not turn the shower on, it was too hard to turn the valve and my husband had to turn it on for me. Also, the shower was leaking from the head pipe. We called the front desk and they fixed the valve so it wasn’t too tight for me to do but never fixed the leaking shower head. After room service cane on the 2nd day we were there, they only emptied one of the three garbage cans in the room and didn’t replace the English Breakfast teabags that I used so the next morning, I didn’t have tea for myself. We spoke to the cleaning person and the next day, the tea bags were replaced but they only replaced one of the two paper coffee cups that were originally in the room so I didn’t have a cup for my tea. The next day, again the tea bags weren’t replaced and a different garbage can wasn’t emptied. Again, we complained to the cleaning staff person (who appeared to be someone different each day) and then we got the paper coffee cups replenished but they didn’t replenish the paper disposable cereal bowls that were in the room and again left one garbage can full. We ate our breakfast in the room each day so it was inconvenient not to have the cups and bowls and tea bags etc. replenished each day. Maybe I should have called the front desk my my complaints and I shouldn’t have been specific about what supplies were missing but rather told them to please make sure all the supplies that were in the room the day we got there were replaced everyday.
