I'm going to start by saying I don't normally leave reviews for places I stay at. But, with the experience that I had staying here I definitely want to leave an honest review for people that choose this hotel in the future. I came to visit family and had to work here for a few days and booked as a single person. Upon arriving to my room I noticed immediately that my room had 2 conjoined room doors. My sister decided to stay with me in the hotel but I was still a little uneasy about the access others could possibly have getting into my room. Toni at the front desk was unbelievably kind and understanding when I came down to ask if it was possible to switch at their earliest convenience. It was very late so we decided to wait until morning for a switch. She put notes into the system and we went about our night.. The next morning I came down and introduced myself and Victoria (front desk clerk) already knew what I needed and let me know a new room was available asap. My sister and I both work remotely so we moved in between meetings. After an hour, I went to use the restroom and noticed that there was a significant amount of dry wall (or whatever you call it) from the ceiling lying in the bath tub. I went down and showed her pictures to let her know. Maybe, maintenance wasnt able to finish their job and it wasnt noted in the system. I dont know. Lol but, again.. no big deal... Victoria put on her cape yet again and moved us to another room and apologized for the inconvenience. The rest of my stay went off without a hitch and with all that said I will absolutely be back to stay here. I wasnt here long enough to enjoy all of the amenities the hotel has to offer but the location, price and especially all of the staff (that I had the pleasure of meeting) were amazing!! The room changes were small problems that didn't take away from my stay but added some fun and silly add on stories to tell my kids for when we come to visit all together in the future.

    - Rooms are super basic - The floor of the room seems pretty dirty- feet get black after walking barefoot - Some of the floor panels are coming up in the bathroom. Rm 1411. There was also food left in our fridge from the previous guest. - Location is 20+ minutes from parks (not super convenient at all) - Hotel itself is rundown - You can hear road traffic very easily, lots of hot rods going by. Biggest thing this hotel has going for it is its Breakfast and the price. It has a pretty decent Breakfast buffet and the price was semi-affordable ($100/night w/ military discount). It does seem kind of walkable to some restaurants and entertainment so that's a plus.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Juan at the Holiday Inn bar is absolutely spectacular! He elevated our entire stay from the moment we sat down. His drink recommendations were completely spot-on—he took the time to figure out what we liked and steered us toward a fantastic local craft beer, plus he mixes a perfect Old Fashioned. What really blew us away, though, was his local knowledge and hospitality. When we mentioned we were trying to catch a basketball game, Juan went above and beyond. He gave us the exact inside scoop on the best arena sections for the price and the most reliable ways to grab last-minute tickets without getting gouged. He genuinely cares about his guests having a great time both at the bar and out in the city. If you’re staying here, do yourself a favor and grab a drink with Juan!

The room was adequate. This hotel is large and we were told they were at capacity (although, it didn’t seem to be overly crowded). We were turned away from early admission. We discovered there were no unlocked bathrooms on the ground floor. We ended up going to Old Town to find a restroom. We did like the location of walking distance to Old Town, World Food Trucks and The Crazy Mason milkshakes. The pool and hot tub were nice (standard). We did enjoy the balcony. Breakfast was a bit larger than the standard breakfasts we’ve had at other Holiday Inns. For some reason we got a handicapped room - not sure why that happened. Would have rather had bathroom counter space instead of just a sink. From our balcony at the 2nd tower in the back, we noticed someone walking around. She appeared to be on something and came out of the back field (we are guessing homeless). She was singing loudly (we could hear her over the A/C unit on the 8th floor!) and walking around haphazardly. She did try to get into the hotel, but then she was back into the parking lot. (We assume this is why you can’t get into the restrooms on the 1st floor). The next morning they took her by ambulance. There was another person there that appeared to leave going out through that back field. We wondered if there was a homeless camp back there. We felt safe in the hotel and had clear view of our vehicle, which wasn’t touched. It was a little disturbing through. Not sure there’s much the hotel can do anything about it though.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at this hotel. I had a reservation but was unable to check in due to a medical emergency—my son had an asthma attack and we had to go straight to the hospital. I explained the situation to the hotel, and at the time, the staff assured me that it shouldn’t be a problem to receive a refund. However, shortly after, I received an email stating that they would not be issuing any refund at all. This was incredibly frustrating and upsetting, especially after being told something completely different by staff. To make matters worse, I was still charged $148 for a stay we never used. I understand that hotels have policies, but situations involving a child’s health emergency should be handled with compassion and understanding. Being charged under these circumstances—after being led to believe a refund would be possible—is unacceptable. Customer service is about more than just policies—it’s about honesty and how you treat people when unexpected things happen. Unfortunately, this experience showed both a lack of empathy and poor communication. I would not recommend staying here based on how this situation was handled.
