- MDMackenzie DeelOct 12, 20253.0Let me start off by saying the kids loved the pools/water slides/mini golf. We did not end up doing the zip line or anything in the adventure park because those you had to pay for; where as water activities and golf were free. The reason I gave three stars was due to being woke up at 1AM from the sheriff LOUDLY pounding on the door that we must evacuate due to smoke/burning/fire smell. We were on the 5th floor so of course we woke the kids and evacuated to the front of the hotel. We were outside for about a half hour watching all the chaos of police and firefighters going in and out before we were let back into our room. It still smelled strongly of a burning smell and we noticed the heater/AC unit at the end of our hallway was tore apart so that seemed to be the culprit. In the morning, upon asking the front desk they said it was from someone smoking in their room. We think the hotel used this as an explanation to deter any blame from the hotel, but to instead blame a “guest” (if one so exists). The smell was definitely NOT someone smoking. At checkout it was a ‘shrug, shrug’ and no discount given or even offered. I understand completely (used to work front desk at a resort myself) that there is things out of hotels control, but the whole supposed explanation and lack of apologies was very off putting. Above all, it is VERY concerning to me that regardless of what did happen not one smoke alarm went off. … so do they have working smoke alarms here or not one sure wonders??
