Stay here if you can't get anywhere else. It is the furthest from any of the other parks and only accessible on the Disney bus. Really does not add anything to a stay in a Disney resort!

This bad experience surprised me as 99% of the reviews are very positive. My family and I visited animal kingdom on February 9th. We went to the Jambo house Mara cafeteria for supper. Out of 12 people, 3 ate the pulled pork sandwich and only those three were very ill that night. We deduced that there had been something wrong with the pork that day. So please be careful!
Apart from that everything was pleasant. Hopefully it’s an isolated unfortunate incident.

Bel hôtel. Super beau décor africain. Personnel amical et attentionné. Belle piscine.

The Jambo lodge lobby is absolutely amazing. Details with carvings, soaring ceilings. Beautiful pool and animals in the savana part of resort.

Outstanding stay at Jambo house. Stayed in level 5 DVC floor (purchased the points and stay from David's Vacation rentals, as we are not disney timeshare owners) and had a lovely corner savannah view in room 5212. We saw a giraffe, zebras, an ostrich, and others- the animals are all quiet and the gamekeepers put food out so the animals come close for people in the rooms to see them.
Some observations:
-Room. The pullout couch for kids was surprisingly comfortable, just as comfortable as the main bed. Was fun to be on 5th floor because this is the only floor with the bridge to walk across the lobby. There is a thick black out curtain so you can keep room dark for naps in the day.
-Food. We did daily app mobile orders for pick up at the Mara (a 5min walk). Highly recommend the beef stew and loved the kale salad side- we had everything on their menu over a week. We splurged once for Boma dinner and breakfast buffets- they were our highlight meals- totally worth it. We had Sanna dinner once and only liked the bread service. Did not try Jiko.
-Shuttles. Shuttles come every 20min for the parks and upon exiting hotel they are a 1min walk to the left (for kidani hotel shuttle, go straight over street kiss and ride where a separate smaller shuttle comes every few min). Once seated the bus goes to Kidani for pick ups, then to the park (opposite for return- they drop off at Kidani first then Jambo). Times for bus from Jambo (to include the Kidani stop, these are generally what they were for us in January around 9am and 2pm)- 20min to Disney Springs. 5min to Animal Kingdom. 25min to Magic Kingdom. 20min to Epcot. The shuttles were truly convenient, no issues getting a spot but I imagine in busier months you may have to wait for a second bus if it fills up. We always left by early afternoon and never waited more than 10min for return bus and there was barely anyone riding back at that time (we returned for midday naps).
-Resort. The resort is so much fun that we did half days at park and resort. The kids playground, the pools, walking around to see on-site animals was all fun and passed the afternoon early evening so our days weren't too rushed. There are movies at night and bonfire smores outside and the arcade (as there are no prizes your $20 there gets you an hours worth of games). There are attendents that do occasional activities or information stands. The overall vibe of the resort is super chill and relaxed. If bright lights are distasteful to you, you can be assured you won't find any light over 45 watts...soft dim light only. You got zits or wrinkles? You're in luck. While on this property nobody will see them. My only feedback for improvement is the Simba clubhouse is not well marked to find and could use a refurbishment as it feels very low budget and old compared to rest of resort. But nice to have for coloring and hanging out. We switched resorts halfway through our Orlando trip.
Check out at Jambo was 11am and check in at new place closer to Universal was 4pm- we spent that in between time chilling at the resort playground and Simbas clubhouse and Mara outdoor table (bags with bellhop no charge just tip), and even that was a great time.
-Final thoughts. All staff are so kind and welcoming, a true treat of a stay! We had no car but took the Mears connect shuttle to/from airport ($50 each way for 2 adults, 2 kids pre booked a few weeks prior) and using Disney shuttles was super convenient with no driving/parking stress. There were always long lines for parking going into parks for cars but the bus has a separate lane and goes right to front of the park for pick up and drop off. We can't wait to come back!
