I stayed at Oceans Edge Key West Resort & Hotel from August 25 to August 27, 2025 and, based on my personal experience and the banking documentation in my possession, the overall experience was highly unsatisfactory. The reservation had already been fully prepaid via Agoda; however, my credit card shows charges related to two nights that, according to the booking confirmation, were already included, as well as additional amounts that were not clearly explained. In addition, the security deposit/pre-authorisation remained blocked for an extended period after check-out, without any prior communication or clarification. At the time of check-out, there was a power outage at the property, which made it more difficult to immediately verify all billing details. However, even afterwards, I did not receive any direct response to my requests for clarification nor the invoice, despite repeated follow-ups both with the property and through the booking platform. In particular, the property never responded even to the requests submitted via Agoda. Only after almost one year, as part of a dispute opened through Visa, the documentation was provided to the card issuer, without any direct communication to me. For transparency, I acknowledge that part of the retained amount may relate to the so-called “Resort Fee”, if included in the terms of stay. However, charges related to other items such as parking, which I did not use, remain unexplained. Overall, I believe there was a lack of clarity in the post-stay management and in handling guest requests. A property of this level should ensure greater transparency, communication, and support for its guests. For these reasons, my experience was not positive and I do not feel I can recommend the property.

The Good: Decent location with some good local eats close by. Convenient to the marina if going out on a charter. Nice sized rooms with separate living/sleeping area. The Bad: Beds are not comfortable. They aren’t the worst, but are really hard. TVs lacking basic streaming functionality. You can connect a couple things but missing major apps. Bathroom shower leaks like crazy and soaks the floor. Drink fridge in the room barely cools and the fridge in the living area stops working randomly and you have manually reset it. No basis like paper towels or silverware or anything like that in the room. Housekeeping staff not great, one day they literally just left a bag of towels on the floor in the room. One of the clean towels in our room on day 1 had brown stains on it. I was in the reception area today and overheard the “concierge” get snippy with someone on the phone. He then turned around and started talking crap about the caller with another employee while guests were in the reception area. Just not professional. It’s only April and it seems like the AC already barely keeps up with the heat and they have it locked down so it can’t be set any lower. Child friendly, with games and activities so that’s good if you have kids. However, if you don’t have kids, there aren’t any adult only areas. One of the selling points for us picking this resort was because they had kayaks and paddle boards on site with two hours a day included in the resort fee. However, nowhere on the site does it mention restrictions for use of the equipment. Therefore, my plans included half a day, using a kayak and taking my fly rod out there with me. When I went down to check out a kayak, the person at the tiki hut told me I was not allowed to use the kayak to fish. When I asked her if it was listed anywhere that there were restrictions she told me no she did not think so. I checked the website again and can find no such restrictions. I’m only here for five days. It’s too late to change my plans for the day so now I’ve lost half a day of my five days of vacation thanks to their inability to provide accurate information. Overall, not a great experience. I do not think we would stay here or recommend this place to others.

The pictures are amazing! Whomever the photographer was did an amazing job! Wide angle lens makes everything look bigger. The six pools - eh. The chess and corn hole and connect 4 - eh. What the pictures didn't include is that you drive past a bunch of single wide trailers and an industrial park before you get to the resort. Never felt unsafe but it sure was a unique location. They also wanted to charge us $30/day to park a scooter on site so we were left riding the shuttle or taking an Uber into town (15-20 minutes depending on traffic). There is only one restaurant on the property and the service was hit or miss. Food was tasty and prices were what you'd expect for a resort. Drinks were even more expensive and everything included an automatic 18% gratituity. - I'm not a fan of automatic tipping and they left a line on the slip for an additional gratituity, which was sometimes warranted but most of the time not. Overall, had a good time but not sure we got the value for what we paid or the location being so far from town.

The rooms are large and spacious and quite nicely decorated but the campus is not created equal with our ocean view rooms facing mangroves and an inlet rather than a marina or a beach or ocean (really)…I’d call this misleading advertising, but the rooms are probably the same throughout and they are quite nicely decorated with great bathrooms though the water pressure in the showers is not great. The pricing of everything is excessive ($180 per day for a golf cart) the price of food and drinks the daily fees. I don’t know if the town or state or resort are responsible but it was reminiscent of being in the Caribbean but at least there the excuse was “we’re an island so everything has to be shipped in”. We definitely felt like we were being held hostage. The location, if you own a boat and are docked at the marina, or you have no desire to leave the resort and expect to eat, drink and entertain yourself entirely at the resort is fantastic. Otherwise you are basically an island and need to take boats or taxis everywhere because there is no walking distance anything without feeling unsafe. The food option is limited to one restaurant. It is overpriced and the food is average at best. The servers seemed overwhelmed the entire time we were there but they were nice and were clearly trying. We blame lack of training and supervisors rather than effort. The waits were long and service was spotty. These issues can be fixed but as of now they are clear and present. More frequent shuttle service, lowering the bar on costs of mobility like the golf carts, and hiring more experienced managers or implementing systems can easily take the resort from a 3 to a 5.

Underwhelmed sums up the entire trip. From check in to check out we had issue after issue. Rooms were filthy. You can tell they aren’t cleaned thoroughly. Dust, bugs, carpets are gross. Found a cockroach the first morning. The bathroom smelled of bleach, we complained a few times, and the smell just lingered. Service was horrible. Pool service was hit or miss, and the wait staff was rude. With pools full of people you think they’d want to make money. We had lunch there and it was just okay, nothing special. There were different menus, which was odd. There was one to scan and one they handed out, but no one seemed to know what was on which or what the kitchen could make. When we ordered shrimp tacos the waitress said well it will depend on if the kitchen is busy. Just bizarre. The icing on the cake was the late check out fee thay tried to spring on us. We had a 2pm flight, and earlier in the week I inquired about late checkout. When I called the front desk, they told me to call the morning of to request a late check out. I was instructed to start calling at 7 because by 830am, they are booked. When I called this am, I requested to check out at 1145am (45 mins late), was told no problem. When we went to the front desk to settle our bill I confirmed the checkout and they told me they could do 15 mins, anything else they’d charge me $50 an hr. I was flabbergasted by the lack of transparency/communication. After some back and forth the fee was waived. All in all, not a great experience. Will not be back.
