We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Harbourside and experienced a serious safety concern that other guests should be aware of.
In the early morning hours of April 7, a fire broke out in a guest room several doors down from ours. The fire was visibly significant, with large flames seen through the window and coming from under the room door. Despite this, the fire alarm inside our room was barely audible.
Most concerning, no hotel staff alerted guests or checked on rooms at any point during the incident. Two fellow guests, who happened to be awake for an early flight, took it upon themselves to knock on doors up and down the hallway to wake and evacuate others.
While the fire appeared to be contained to a single room, the lack of staff response and communication during and after the incident was alarming. There was also no follow-up from the hotel to acknowledge the situation or reassure guests.
I shared this feedback directly with management the next day and hope the hotel takes steps to review its emergency procedures, alarm audibility, and guest communication protocols.
Safety should never rely on other guests stepping in.

Rooms are starting to look aged. Spot on carpet worn out, glass on elevator needs desperately cleaned. Half of the washing machines and dryers don't work. Sliding doors to room didn't have a handle a door was extremely hard to open. Parking garage was dirty and things laying around. Didn't have enough hot water for jacuzzi tub. You would think For as much as you pay you would expect better.
On a good note, The pool was clean and looked to be maintained ok. The service desk people were polite and tried helping as much as they could. The area and location is beautiful.

Rooms were clean and roomy. We were provided with free water park passes l. The views were beautiful. We seen dolphins in the area right outside of our room. There was plenty of food and drinks available on property. Great breakfast spot also. Live entertainment as well.

This hotel is an incredible location, but it desperately needs renovation. The room we stayed in was supposed to be an upgrade from a harbor view suite, which had ample space and a massive TV.
Pros - include a jacuzzi tub, a full kitchen, a large deck, and a dining room table. However, the room’s layout is poorly designed, consisting of one upstairs loft bedroom and one upstairs bathroom.
Cons - Everything is outdated except for the TV. The cabinets are in poor condition, and the counter is dirty. The pullout bed had stains on the sheets, but we managed to get some fresh ones. The shower pan is slanted, causing water to puddle on the floor, requiring you to use your foot to push it into the drain. The cold water handle on the jacuzzi tub doesn’t work and just spins. The bed was comfortable, but it squeaked.
The gym water dispenser is empty so no water and the place smells like a restaurant.
You have to pay for miniature golf which is a complete joke as it is listed as one of the on-site amenities.
If your going to use the splash park bring your own towel, the park and hotel will not provide one unless your bringing a shower towel from the room.
Overall, the hotel is great because of its location and amenities, but the rooms need a complete overhaul, especially considering the high cost of $300-$400 per night. I am a platinum elite member and have yet to hear from IHG on the listed concerns.
This is all around an amazing stay, the rooms are a bit older than the pictures show but everything worked as it should. We loved the location, we parked our vehicle and only got back in it 2 times and that was to go to an event on the other side of Tampa and the other time to go out to eat at Bubba Gump shrimp. The location was perfect for our family because we were able to rent the beach cart, umbrella and chairs right from the hotel and then a really short walk to the beach. It was all around amazing for our family. Thank you for the stay and hospitality.
