I chose The Diplomat Beach Resort for a long weekend getaway because of the lagoon pool. I had looked at many resorts around Miami, but the photos of that pool really captivated me and that was the main reason we decided to stay here.
Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were told that the lagoon pool was under construction and closed for the season. I was honestly really disappointed because that was the feature that made us choose this resort in the first place.
We were also offered complimentary kayaking through the resort, which sounded great, but we weren’t able to do it due to high tide conditions.
Despite those disappointments, there were still things I really enjoyed about the resort. The infinity pool was open and beautiful, and the private beach access was probably my favorite part of the stay. Miami beaches can often feel crowded and not very clean, but the beach here was peaceful, clean, and relaxing. It felt like a much nicer environment to actually unwind.
The rooms were spacious and clean, and the resort offers plenty of activities. There were jumbo games like Connect Four and Jenga, karaoke, bracelet-making activities, multiple restaurants and bars, a two-story gym, the infinity pool, and of course the private beach.
Overall, while I was disappointed about the lagoon pool being closed, the resort still offered a relaxing experience and plenty of things to do for a short getaway.

Valentine’s Day experience ruined…(Part 1))
My wife and I (freshly wed September 2025). This was supposed to be our first Valentine’s Day together as a married couple. And boy was it upsetting and frustrating. Upon our arrival at the pool area The hostess had no clue about the “complementary gift kit” that we were supposed to receive. She led us to one of the corner cabanas under the Gazebo (North East Corner) facing the pool. Which is a prime spot. She then returned with our “complementary gift kit” which was a few squirts of sun screen and aloe Vera in plastic ramekins. Like something you’d receive ketchup in at a bar… fine whatever no big deal. Then we hung out applied our free sunscreen and decided to jump in the pool. I also noticed they never gave us our wristbands. Which is unusual considering we’ve been coming to the Diplomat once a year for our honeymoon (when we first started dating). Luckily I found the Director of events walking around (Shayne) very helpful, friendly and accommodating guy. He returned with both wristbands. Put my wife’s on her wrist and tried to put mine on but it was missing the clasp. Apologized and said he would return with a new one and also send someone to provide us with the real complimentary gift kit. Which when we received it was far different than in 6 ramekins of sunscreen and aloe Vera. It’s what I would have expected. Top shelf sunscreen, sand screen (which I didn’t know was a thing), and some other accoutrements. Shayne also sent someone to give us some free champagne. My wife and I finally were settled in and decided to jump in the pool. Which was several feet from our daybed cabana. All was right in the world. Then after about 2”ish minutes. I noticed one of the workers walking a couple over to our area. I didn’t think anything of it because there are four daybeds within the cabana area under the gazebo. However they stopped at our bed and began inspecting it. I thought it was strange. (Part 2 to follow)

Our stay at the Diplomat Beach Resort was nothing short of outstanding. The property itself is absolutely beautiful—from the moment you arrive, you can tell this is a first-class resort. The rooms are modern, spacious, and extremely well designed. Everything feels clean, upscale, and comfortable. The grounds, pools, and overall atmosphere are incredible and make it easy to relax and enjoy every minute of being there.
What truly set this experience apart, though, was the service—and in particular, our experience at Solara’s with the bartender, Yosvel.
Yosvel is hands down the best bartender I have ever met.
He brings a level of professionalism, personality, and pride to his work that you simply don’t see very often. He wasn’t just making drinks—he was creating an experience. He was attentive, engaging, and genuinely cared that everyone at the bar was having a great time. You could tell he loves what he does, and it made all the difference.
He has a natural ability to make people feel welcome and valued, and his positive energy elevates the entire atmosphere. People like Yosvel are rare, and he represents the Diplomat and Hilton in the best possible way.
The resort itself is phenomenal, but it’s employees like Yosvel who turn a great stay into an unforgettable one. Because of him, Solara’s became one of our favorite places on the property.
Sandra in the lobby was excellent. She was friendly, professional, and very helpful during my stay. She made everything easy and welcoming from the moment I arrived.
You can tell she really cares about the guests and takes pride in her job. Great service like that makes a big difference. Thank you, Sandra!
We will absolutely be returning, and seeing Yosvel and Sandra again will be something we look forward to.

I recently stayed at The Diplomat Beach Resort for four days, and while the property itself is visually beautiful, the overall experience did not meet expectations.
Upon arrival, the resort makes a strong first impression. The lobby and grounds are attractive, and the pool areas and beach access are highlights of the property. The location and overall atmosphere have great potential, and the resort itself is aesthetically pleasing.
However, the service and accommodations fell short. I stayed in a suite, and the room layout felt impractical. An additional bathroom outside of the bedroom would have greatly improved functionality for a suite of this size. The sofa bed mattress was extremely thin and uncomfortable, and there were not enough pillows or spare blankets provided. The furniture in the room, particularly the tables, was very heavy and difficult to move, making the space less comfortable to use during our stay.
Housekeeping was also an issue. During our four-day stay, housekeeping did not service the room unless specifically requested. At one point, we ran out of toilet paper and were unable to locate staff nearby for assistance, which was frustrating and unexpected for a resort of this level. When we approached staff at the front desk for assistance on other occasions, the response was unhelpful and lacked the level of hospitality expected from a property of this caliber.
Dining experiences were average at best. Restaurant food was highly overpriced for the quality received, service was slow (approximately an hour wait after ordering), and the meals themselves were mediocre. I would rate the restaurant experience 3 out of 5.
Overall, I would rate the hotel itself 3 out of 5. During our stay, there was a large convention taking place, and it appeared that convention guests were given priority over regular hotel guests, which negatively affected the overall experience.
While the resort is beautiful, the lack of attentive service, room comfort issues, and dining experience make it unlikely that I would return or bring my family back in the future.

I recently stayed at The Diplomat Resort and had very mixed feelings about the experience. The property itself is beautiful and the room was nice overall, but there were several frustrating issues that really took away from the stay.
At check-in, we were told we could self-park across the street with in-and-out access. When we returned later, that turned out to be false. We were told we could not access the lot the way it had been explained to us, leaving us with no choice but to pay $70 per day for valet. That would have been helpful to know upfront so we could have planned accordingly.
The cost of parking was just the beginning of what felt like constant nickel and diming. Charging $30 for a beach umbrella felt excessive, especially considering they were already set up each morning and had to be taken down if you chose not to use one. Not being allowed to sit in the beach chairs before 9am was also disappointing. It would have been nice to enjoy a quiet early morning on the beach without restrictions.
The hot tub being closed was a big letdown. In addition, other pools were roped off and unavailable during our stay, essentially acting as giant bird baths. The pools that were open were freezing cold, which made them difficult to enjoy. For a resort at this price point, I expected better maintenance and availability of amenities.
The room itself was nice, but it was not properly cleaned upon arrival. There were loose peanut M&Ms scattered on the floor in the corner of the room, which was concerning and made it clear housekeeping had overlooked basic cleaning details.
Most of the staff were kind and very attentive, which I appreciated. However, when I paid cash for a drink on the beach, gratuity was already included, yet the change was kept without asking. That left a bad impression.
We also had an uncomfortable situation with one of our meals. A staff member initially told us we had already been charged. Later that evening, he found us in the main lobby to inform us we had not been charged and that it was his error, but he would need to process the charge. The way it was handled felt as though we were being chased down or accused of skipping out on our bill, which was uncomfortable and unnecessary, especially since it stemmed from staff error. It really put a damper on the evening.
Another disappointment was watching guests be asked to move throughout our stay to accommodate a three-day photo shoot. It felt distasteful to prioritize a production over paying guests’ experience.
Overall, while the resort is visually appealing and many staff members were pleasant, the high costs, miscommunication, closed amenities, and repeated frustrations made it difficult to feel like the experience justified the price
