STAY AWAY!! booked a stay for my employee and then got hit with a smoking fee weeks after the stay and she has never smoked in her life. We played by the hotel's rules and disputed it. They sent a video of cigarette butts in the toilet with no room number, time, or date stamp to prove anything. Heck, they could've just got that from google for all we know bc I see other reviews where this has happened before. Wild that a business is okay with this kind of reputation. And before I get a reply on this review telling me to call customer service, we already have and I actually asked for the GM, Christian, to call me via a note left by the front desk AND a voicemail to his phone. He didnt have the courage to tell me like a man and just replied to the email chain we had to ask for the video on.

Decent Stay, But Cleanliness and Service Need Work
We stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Gainesville, and overall, it was an okay experience, but definitely not up to the standard we expected.
The biggest issues were cleanliness and service. The room and common areas just didn’t feel very clean, and it was noticeable. On top of that, the service was seriously lacking, slow, unorganized, and not very attentive. For a Hilton-branded hotel, that was disappointing.
The property itself has potential, but they really need to step up their cleaning and service levels to make the stay feel worth it.

We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and had a great experience so were excited to stay again. There was a group of us staying and
the 2 courtyards are a perfect hangout spot and its nice to have the bar and restaurant in hotel. This area and hotel have gone downhill in the last 2 years. There were homeless people everywhere including some smoking weed in their car in the parking lot. The furniture in the courtyards left something to be desired. Most of the cushions on the wicker couches were missing. The Adirondack chairs were broken. The couch in the lobby had so many stains i didnt even want to sit on it. My husband and a couple of friends were sitting in the courtyard at the end of the night when they were locked in. No one went outside to make sure the courtyard was empty or told them they were closing the courtyard, they just locked the doors. 2 rooms in our group had incessant high pitched beeping throughout the night. When it was brought to management's attention they were offered a free appetizer. Our room was comfortable, but the shower had seen better days.

My recent stay at the Doubletree by Hilton in Gainesville, FL, was profoundly disappointing and necessitated the first negative hotel review I have ever written. The immediate impression upon entering the building was poor, as the hallways were permeated by a truly offensive, pungent smell reminiscent of a cheap lemon urinal cake, an odor that unfortunately followed into my room. The room itself appeared severely neglected and hadn't seen an update since the 1980s, featuring old, cheap carpeting and glaring maintenance issues, including multiple visible holes in the ceiling.
Beyond the cosmetic failures, there were several small but unnerving functional problems in the bathroom, most notably a toilet that made flushing a stressful event due to the water level rising precariously close to the rim. Furthermore, the construction quality was unacceptable; the walls were paper thin, making it impossible to relax as I could clearly hear full conversations from the neighboring room. This level of disrepair, discomfort, and lack of basic upkeep is far below what I would ever expect from an establishment operating under the Hilton banner, and it severely failed to meet basic hospitality standards.

Beware. I was booked to stay here for a career fair at the University for my company. I am a 28 year old young female and felt uncomfortable staying here. I checked in after my flight later in the evening and checked out early in the morning for the career fair. There was some loitering around the hotel parking lot. The room smelled bad and I wore shower shoes. I I have since been charged $250 on my personal card. I called to inquire and they charged me a smokers fee. I have never smoked a day in my life. I have called customer service and made my company aware so that we dont book any future employees here. It is such an unfortunate situation. The hotel isnt responding to me now. I feel like I can no longer stay at Double Trees when I travel for work now. I guess you must film hotel rooms when you enter and exit these days or they will charge you for things you didnt do?
