We had a cruise scheduled and had a 2 night stay in Ft. Lauderdale before the cruise started. I chose this hotel because they had an airport shuttle and could arrange transportation to the cruise terminal.
When we arrived I had to call numerous times letting the phone ring forever before someone finally answered the phone so I could request the shuttle to the hotel.
If anyone is considering this hotel for the free airport shuttle should think again.
When we got to the hotel, there was only one person checking people in, not very efficient. It didn't seem like answering the phone was that difficult. In fact, when I was next to check in, the staff member answered the phone and proceeded to spend about 5 minutes helping them while I and 2 more people behind me had already been waiting to check in. Staff needs to be instructed on what to do when the phone rings and someone is at the desk at the same time.
The hotel room had a view of the water treatment plant (and the smell that goes with it). I guess that is the price you pay for the proximity to the port. The room was in desperate need of a remodel. The bathroom had caulk coming up all around the shower. There was a smell that was a mix of sewage, air freshener, humidity, and oldness. The price we paid was absolutely outrageous for the accommodation provided.
On the plus side, there were many places to eat in walking distance and there is a Publix too.
Also, all the housekeeping and breakfast attendant staff were very friendly and nice. And whoever is stuck babysitting that pancake maker needs a raise!
I would not stay here again.

I had a wonderful experience at the Holiday Inn Express thanks to Crystal at the front desk. From the moment I arrived, she was incredibly welcoming, professional, and helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure everything with my check-in went smoothly and made me feel genuinely valued as a guest. Her positive attitude and attention to detail really stood out, and it’s clear she takes pride in providing great customer service. Employees like Crystal make a huge difference in a hotel stay, and she truly made my visit a great one. Thank you, Crystal, for your kindness and excellent service!

The hotel staff wa pleasant, but not at all informative. Not even aware that there was bus transportation for me to get to the beach or even how I could rent an bike. After a 4 mile walk to the beach I learn there was buses available. Later on a back table I found literature about bike rental that would have brought th bike to the hotel. The staff needs to learn and be more informative.

1st room had hair in the bed, hair on the ceiling above the shower. Damp, moldy smell. A leaky ceiling poorly repaired. Dust and poorly cleaned surfaces. Shoddy maintenance attempts. Requested to be moved. New room also had hair on the ceiling in the bathroom. Debris on a towel. The drawer on the nightstand kept opening because it was falling off the wall. Also dusty and poorly wiped down. Hallways dark and signs of neglect evident. Not what I expected from this brand. Certainly not for $400 a night. Trash in hallway. Only bright spot was the breakfast attendants.

My wife and I booked this room months ago for a place to stay the night before our first cruise and first trip to Florida. We arrived at the airport called the hotel for shuttle pick up, other than the wait all good until we arrived. We went to check in and hardly got through the door and the staff at the desk started shaking her head and saying we have no rooms, we are booked. She was very rude and unhelpful. We are a 1000’s of miles from home and no where to go at 9 p.m. at night. The other person working (Tracy) stepped in to find out what happened and at least try and find us a place to stay. Apparently an e-mail was sent out at 3 pm that our room had been canceled. That was about the time we were somewhere in the air between Chicago and Florida. Not sure what kind of policy this is for this to happen but it has all but ruined our vacation. We paid for numerous Ubers to drive all over Fort Lauderdale going to hotels that supposedly had openings even confirming them charging our credit card that we now have to deal with getting the charges removed. We ended up at Travel lodge in a not so good neighborhood with people screaming and fighting outside our door throughout the little night that was left. I am so angry I probably shouldn’t even be writing this now, but I have to vent. Something needs to change at Holiday Inn Express.
